Do you like porn games with more or less mechanics and systems? And what's a game at the OPPOSITE end of the scale that you like anyway?

I should have probably said Free-roams instead of minigames as the math ones weren't really memorable at all. But there are some more like repairing the mansion that used to require a bit of strategy but I think you can finish it completely now with no problems
Those free roams in that game are why I quit. They went from hard without a walkthrough to damn near impossible with (one where I quit you had to do stuff in the right order, including with the phone and a random fight - WTF???) I quit that one a couple years ago and wasn't all that close to where then end was then. It's also one of the "protected" games on fuck95 were it's apparently against the rules to give it a bad rating.

The only mechanic I want in a game is multiple choices, routes and endings

After that, is kinda a plus... but I despice free roam games if the grind is eternum

Free roams are one of the worst kind of minigames. And FFS you shouldn't NEED a walkthrough.

I don't usually mind free roam if done moderately, but sometimes is really hard knowing what do to if the game don't give you enough hints.
I think every game with minigames and free roam should make it optional, letting you play the game as a standard VN.

I'm interested in the gameplay first and foremost. Yes, the sex adds a little spice, but nothing more.
Kinetic novels I just ignore, Visual novels - differently. Depends on the story and the availability of real workable choices.
I don't know who I'm writing this to, it's a wank club, but fuck it, I don't care.

(And also have a god/omnipresent mode that lets you do multiple routes on the same playthrough, but I think this one would need a lot more of the dev time for it to work well)

A piece of visual erotica should only have the mechanics that it needs in order to deliver the experience it is going for. I have enjoyed a few sandbox games, and I have played a few games that would have been great kinetic novels, but were instead tedious or incomplete """games""".

Less ofc. I don't want any unnecessary "time dragging" mechanics. Sandboxes and Minigames are the worst. The point system is also good if it is as simple as possible. What could be more complicated is, for example, choosing the answers to the questions. Lately, I've seen characters with very similar personalities in games, and the answers to dialogues with them are almost always the same. However, the essence of a good AVN is to have characters with different personalities who need to be reacted to in different ways.

Really not a fan of minigames or combat mechanics. Keeping it to a choice tree and +/- affection/lust or something along those lines is all I need

Yes, minigames/free roams should ALWAYS be made skippable, especially if difficult. The free roams are what made BaDik a bad game to me.

Mechanics should enrich the story and not just be out of place. The mini game, stat evolving etc. has to make sense…

It applies on mainstream games as well.

Oh..and I hate sneaking….but sneaking in a porn game..that would be quite interesting!

Does that exist?

That would be my opposite game!

That's the holy grail - got any favorite examples?

I love Astral Lust's deck-building combat. The game's sadly abandoned now but I kept it around for quite a while because I just really wanted to build a deck that could beat the dragon.

Droid Productions' Morningstar: Book of the Fallen has a really fun Match 3 variant. I actually enjoy grinding practice matches while waiting for the next story fight, and it does a good job of making it feel like you earned your character's victory in the ring by winning the Match 3 game.

(I don't think the next two have 'skip combat/puzzle' options, but I enjoy them enough that it's never bothered me.)

Masters of Raana is more of a management game than anything, but the process of busting your tail to go from one-step-above-penniless to major local power makes all the pieces of story content feel much more valuable.

Devotion and Despondence likewise does a good job of syncing up your gameplay progression with your character's growing familiarity with and competence in the new world he's been dumped into.

There have been a few Japanese eroge with genuinely good gameplay, but minigames in most AVNs just are not good enough to justify their inclusion.

I usually like games more with more enjoyable mechanics, but understand why some people may not want this things on a porn game, the thing I can't deal with are sandbox, almost always is an excuse to make you grind in order to prolong the game, and I hate when that happens. And yeah, some minigames on Vn's feel just like fillers too but have find a lot more good uses than with sandbox.

Kinetic preferable. Then comes the only choice I care about "Fuck? Do not Fuck?" For me, death to Sandbox! As I said in other posts, porn doesn't (anymore) have the content I want.

As far as inner monologue, I don't have one, but I have recently had a revelation: A favourite youtuber of mine called Jeremy Jahns posted on one of his recent reviews (I forget which):

"I just learned LAST WEEK that there are people in the world... that don't have an inner monologue CONSTANTLY going about every thing happening in their life, big, small, immediate. That blew my mind. For me, that voice is ALWAYS talking." Which means, some people actually DO have an inner monologue.

I'm not saying you should enjoy inner monologue, but, obviously, the devs that make those games have one.

I prefer a straight forward VN, but a game mechanic that i was a fan of was the one used in Man Of the House, Simple and straight forward.

I do like when there are some mini games mixed in. gives you something to do from time to time and keeps it fresh. Don't really like when games are super grindy and you have to do the same exact thing over and over again to earn money or affection with a character.

Honestly same, i dont like any minigames at ALL they are so tedious and ruin the whole game

I would say games like Caliross, or the Hunter, or Princess Trainer, or Insight of Me all have enough mechanics to make it a game without so many or such a delay between scenes as to lose the lewd element. I really like a creator named Pyorgara who writes the most fantastic corruption scenes! Unfortunately, his games now tend to be quite complex in terms of their non-lewd strategy or functionality. Could take 15 minutes just to go through one round.

I like mechanics when they're used as tools for storytelling. Whether it's an open sandbox or minigames, as long as they're not too grindy and make sense in the story then I'm good with them.

Prime example is 18titans by Mity where it makes sense for our character to grind a bit to improve his skills.
