I´ve got no problem, not aligning with the protagonist.
It is a story.
There are some things I dislike. It is hard for me to play a evil bastard. (Sometimes I do, but most of the times I´m a good guy)
Hell I´m a hetero male. But I really love playing full lesbian games. Cause more pussy and no hairy balls, that are not mine.
I even looked a couple years only at lesbian porn. (Before finding to porn games)
The others are like watching porn or reading a book.
I don´t think. I´m the protagonist at any time.

I know they were just referring to having a similar moral compass in games. We all play GTA. I like experiencing different perspectives so it doesn't bother me to play someone that I don't identify with. If anything it can make it more entertaining because I'll end up doing things I normally wouldn't if I was playing as myself. Seeing a character have a full on descent into madness or depravity is why I enjoy corruption games so much, I usually have a pretty tight grip on my life so playing as someone who gives in to their desires can be fun.

I find it difficult to play games with a female protagonist. It's harder to insert myself into the role, I suppose. I do actually read and such so maybe that's a part of it. I really do play the games "for the articles."

One of the chloe games had a male protagonist for a chunk of it and I was enjoying it well enough (kind of an old game, at least a few years iirc fake family maybe?) and part way through, after a fair chunk of content it was a swap to chloe as the protagonist and I lost interest. Book of Lust does something similar in that you're switching protagonists throughout it.

I always find it offputting. I wish I didn't because it'd open more games for me to get into.

Yes. I don't play games with non-males or non-Whites as the MC. Not because I hate them, but because it ruins the suspension of disbelief for me.

Thats why females need female protagonists as well, but they are mostly slutgenerators (not really appealing to women to play a stupid piece of fuckmeat) or lesbian (i dont complain here, i am lesbian, but i guess hetero female players would like some useable content as well)

No. though I only play a few games with female protagonists or solely lesbian it has nothing to do with the MC but the game content itself. But I at most empathize with MC's i dont roleplay as them. I like role play games, but thats cause you get to build your character as you choose. in stories even when you can make choices, their personality and default kinks and so on are preset and impossible to argue, so I treat VN like they are, interactive picture books, with hentai and cartoon porn.

Having said that, my empathy for characters in tv movies books and games can make me emotional about characters and situations. I tend to get pissy and shit on games when MC's suddenly start behaving contrary to their already developed character. so i often come off as someone who role plays the MC when im ranting. but whatever, other peoples misconceptions arent really my problem unless im looking for conflict and drama to entertain myself. im too old for that nonsense now, rather just play games or read these stupidly addicting chinese web novels.

I can't really play games with female protag since I can't identify as the MC. I suppose it could be possible for me to enjoy a game with a female protagonist if there was only one male character, then I could identify as that male character, but any other men and it is basically NTR.
