I think the taboo of cheating is part of the fun. I agree with Augustus that it's annoying when games force you to cheat in order to get certain content with the character you are cheating on. I prefer the MC to do their awful business with whoever they are attracted to and not have to bang everyone. When i played grandmas house, for example, the MC was basically celibate.

I'm a completionist. Therefore, the ol' gamer OCD compels me to fuq everything. Though to be fair, some games write certain characters so well that in my head they are my obvious choice. Despite how I ran around slinging dick like donuts at a weight watchers convention.

I like Harem runs if everyone/the majority of the characters I like are into it. If it pisses people off/feels like cheating it really makes me sad.

I usually play harem games so the concept of cheating doesn't really exist. Not sure what I would do if there was a cheating mechanic in a game I played. Probably stay loyal to my chosen/favourite LI and play different play throughs if I wanted to try someone else.

I usually do Harem , try to unlock as much content on my first playthrough as I can, but I did feel regret when I broke Layla's heart on Intertwined -- I still owe her a loyal playthrough.

but if its acceptable by the characters in game and turns into harem and sure why not.

Otherwise I'll just make a different save game.

It depends on the game. I don’t consider it cheating if there isn’t already a clearly established dating relationship or commitment. In my understanding, just because you had sex doesn’t mean you’re dating, much less that she’s part of a harem.
I don’t understand this association of harem with cheating when there’s already consent for the MC to be with other girls. If there’s no consent, then it’s not a harem..
There are LIs who are worth being faithful to, and others who aren’t.
