Do folks like to check out abandoned games?

I'll play an abandoned if it sounds up my alley and also I see a bunch of people talking about it. I know that it is going to hurt when I reach the cliff, but if after abandonment people are still talking about it, it is probably great. I just read of one on a different site that inspired a different dev's game and character and I thought "I have to play something that was so good that it influenced future games".

Honestly fine with it as long as it isn't broken. I'm a fan of the original Head Game even though the creator shifted to a different game engine before completion (MetaHuman with Unreal, I think). If there's good content, especially the interactive kind, I'll come back to enjoy it again. As a result, I'm not afraid to try out abandoned projects as long as the comments say it's playable.

It's a mixed blessing. I've noticed that some of the top ranked games are abandoned. When I see one of those, I find that my curiosity eventually leads me to download the game. I then understand exactly why the game was so beloved and join the chorus of people griping about it being abandoned.

I don't actively seek out abandoned games but always gets edged at the end finding out the game has been dropped by the dev for years now ToT

Some of the best games have been abandoned. Which is awful. So i check them out sometimes, but i admit i do try and stay away from them unless i have a good reason to play it. Like if i already know its hot.

God that feeling is awful, when you finally find a good game on your niche, and just when it's getting good it end, and you going to see the development and see that is abandoned, it's one of the worst feelings ever

I normally filter out abandoned games. I dont like to know that the game is never getting an ending but i dont find anything else i want to play if the game is good enough i may try it

Exactly.
I'm not usually interested in playing abandoned games either, but if a game introduced a feature, story, or idea that later inspired other developers, I'd definitely be willing to try it.

There are some abandoned games that have more content than active and completed games. The one that comes to memory is "regional manager". Crazy amount of content for an abandoned game. Goes hard into the dark corruption path.

I'll only really check out an abandoned game if a lot of people are recommending and hyping it up, and even then I still rarely do it. I hate playing an amazing game that's really sunk it's hooks into me just to have the game abruptly stop right in the middle.

i steer clear of every abandoned game because i get too invested in games to be like yep the story continues but the game ended to bad

Ill play it if it gives me that special fizze feeling alright, then regret it that its not finished at some point...

Lucky i have tisues at hand

I've tried abandoned games, and then get dissapointed when its actually really good and realize i will never see more of it

so i tend to avoid them now

I know a bunch of games that were good but got abandoned, but I never checked for abandoned games specifically, could possibly be some jewels there but mostly dirt

but if you find a jewel it will still be a loss as it will be cut off early

I don't usually reject them immediately especially if they already have a decent bit off content but i am usually weary off them but it is sometimes nice to play them and to know i don't have to re-download the game every other month like the actively updated ones

An abandoned tag will not stop me for a moment from trying out a game. But my tolerance threshold for a low quality game goes downhill fast if it has an abandoned tag.

The way I look at it, good games give me good reference material. If it's good their other games might be too. If the art or writing is good, maybe I can refer to it later for good art or writing.

There's other games that have been in development so long they may as well be abandoned (Summertime Saga anyone?). There's other games that became abandoned and it was only much later that I found out the reason precludes the game being finished (Sister-in-Law, Midlife Crisis, Corrupted love). There's the occasional game that gets the abandoned tag because the author is just that slow (Light of my Life, Harem Hotel, Mystic Manor). There's games that supposedly will be completed, but really are unlikely to be (A clever name, Summertime Saga, But I'm the bad guy).

There's even games that probably should be abandoned but I hope they aren't because they're so bad they're good (Awakening Prya, Cocky Me, Single mother).

My point is that there's lot of reasons to try abandoned games, but not a compelling reason to throw much time at it unless it's good or the author feels reputable.

Now given the disturbing number of games I churn through. It's not uncommon for me to give a game 5 minutes and delete it because the interface is bad or the graphics are clunky or some other benign issue. But I'll give a game still in development more forgiveness because they may fix it, or it may be a first effort and they can use the support, or whatever.

Also, not for nothing, does it need to be complete if it is valid fap material?
