Yeah good ones, if done badly I dont think so, would rather have some decent images instead

Well made animations can make a good game great but bad animations can make a good game bad

similar to the number of girls, yes if it hits the quality threshold

If the animations are of high quality, then it's definitely a plus to the game.
Anything else ... well, better no animation than bad ones.

I think good animations can elevate a game, but at the same time I have played games where the animation feels like 3 frames and I would of rather the game just be single images as the rough animations are so bad that it takes me out of the story. I do think newer games seem to be doing a better job.

wish there were games with pre-rendered videos/animations so they won't fry my potato-gpu lol, preferably in 60fps, i don't like idle-clickers which are 99.999% of modern VNs, why would they put walls of text and 2 - 3 images? it's pointless, i came here to enjoy it, not to grind shit by skipping useless poorly scripted dialogs

Not automatically.
A lot of animation is very basic, has no weight, no impact, no dynamic. It's just a starting point, a target point and an easing function bridging the gap.
It's often so lackluster that it just bores me and usually leads me to quit the game unless I can reasonably assume the artist gets better soon.

A lot of the time, the artist would've been better served with just images where they manage to get a decent composition, color saturation & lighting and capture the moment correctly, rather than some janky in/out loop.

Very good animation, though? Very welcome. The best is usually pre-built in blender or something and actually custom-designed for a specific camera perspective.

I think they dont necesaryly improve a game but if developer adds an animation it means he is probably focusing on the game creation more than the ones that don't add it. I personally dont neet animations that much because in comparision to still images the quality is horrible and therefore it lowers my interest in game.

Good animations usually make the game more enjoyable but bad ones often make them worse.

No. Honestly a waste of time most of the time.
I think the animations where it shows off a newly introduced character is ok.
But most of the sex animations are honest to god trash and was a waste of everyone's time.

It is impossible to give a definite answer. If I see animation of 3-4 looped overcompressed frames, it would be better not to have it. I have nothing against good animation, but I've seen it in very few games (EON, as an example).

If the animations are well-placed and relevant to what's going on, otherwise they seem unnecessary.

Animations make all the difference. Take the game Love & Sex, for example; it's a great game, but it would be perfect if it had animations.

I find that most games (but not all) that include animations, improve the gameplay and consequently the desire to remain with that game, looking forward to each update.
Looking for the "animations" tag in the genre, is one of my go-to seeks for any new game. Thumbs up to those dev's who include them.

Hard no. I always skip them, if I want movies or gifs there are plenty of places on the internet where I can find them

If they are good animations and you can skip it when you watch it again then yes

Also, if they're good. Bad ones, on a loop, etc make it worse.

It depends, so games transition well from image to animation while others freeze the game or even crash it when switching. Honestly it depends more on the developer and if they can transition to animations smoothly.
