yes animation can improve a game greatly just look at W.I.T.C.H hunter and their reanimated sex scenes and compare them to the still images with motion blur effects that they once where and you'll see a major difference
but only if the animation is done right if its lazy then it might just ruin the game instead

It depends how it is made. If it is well made, short answer: yes. But it is not mandatory to have animations for being a good game, though.

I enjoy seeing animations in the games, but there are some fun games with no animations. Personally, I hate the rendering time to make animations, but I add them since I feel without them the game is missing something.

My favorite games all have animated scenes

definitely agree.
In "Innocent Witches " developers listened to community and also added improve animation to scenes - It became more vividly than before

Potentially they could. But it all depends on the quality of play. No amount of animations can save a bad game.

not really for me, honestly I prefer static immage

If I want to jerk, animations can do it for me

They're okay, I suppose. I wouldn't ever be critical of one with animations. Voice acting is better ;)

Animations, when done well, are a great addition. A lot of Daz animations are kinda jank, especially when only one part of a body moves and the rest looks like they're super glued in place.

That said, most of my favorite games have zero animation, so clearly it's not a deal breaker for me when they're not included.

I don't think so. While I admit that good animations are nice, I also know that most animations aren't great and likely exist because of the expectations and demands of a vocal group of players. All in all, I have always believed that animations aren't worth it, and in fact I suspect that they can be detrimental to an individual game, but also detrimental to the adult game community as a whole. I wanted to explain why I think this, but it's honestly just a ton to write about rn.

It depends. I rather game be without animations than have bad animations in it. I find them annoying sometimes especially repeating animations that happens over again and again. For example "Girl house" has same scene animation happening over and over through out the game. And I prefer if you can interrupt and end the animations if you don't want to watch it.

Well of course

The problem is that animations have a very high cost, because they take a big development time, they take away from static images. So for having a banal 4 seconds animations you won't have hundreds of images. Seing that animations in VNs are mostly really bad, I would prefer more content, more images, more dialogues. I can animate using my brain. These are games made by a single person, with limited hardware. In Visual Novels I expect a good plot and images, while animations do not convey anything useful (99% of the times).

And I want to repeat: animations in VNs are usually BAD. Making animations requires specific software (Blender, Maya) and skills that developers usually don't have.

I often find idle animations aren't done good enough to want them in the game. But if a developer has the skills to do scene animations they are usually of good quality

Good animations improve a lot but I prefer only images if the animations aren't good enough
