I've definitely learned some new words through VNs that they don't teach you at school :D

I need english for work and it´is also handy for traveling. So no, I don´t had to learn it especially for VN.

Learned it mostly by playing games and listening to music. Watching english movies/shows is also very helpful.

to say that I learned English thanks to it would be a lie but my level has greatly increased thanks to the H-Game.

I mostly learned english due to games and youtube videos. When i discovered VN i already new quite a bit of english.

Nah, I'm old school, learned English to play video games, mostly old RPGs, but I'm inclined to learn Japanese just to get some new games (and videos, of course).

VNs maybe are good fr you to be immerged in the language, getting used to some constructions and phrases, but please try to have traditional classes to proper learn the language.

No - but it is an interesting point that like TV, movies, music, etc - VNs may help, or inspire, someone to learn English.

Everything is dubbed here. I swear kids pick up English just by existing. Back in the day it was through TV but now even more so due to social media.

More like I learned english THROUGH adult games in general
Never been a fan of VNs, took me a while to play and actually enjoy it, but in the beginning RPGM used to be my favorite type of games, and nowadays it's sandbox (usually through Ren'Py/Unity)

I learn some english at school, but i mainly become good at it because it's the lingua franca on internet and also the main language used in research.

I speak English all my life, Interesting posts on how people learn or don't learn here...

It helped me understand English so well that even if there are translations, I prefer to play in English.

The exact way I learned English was through visual novels

No. I learned English thanks to videogames on NES. On PlayStation I learned how to pronounce words right. I've learned English in school as well, but my classmates wasn't into leaning English during those classes and often cause problem to those pupils who wanted to study.

It's my mother tongue, so no. On the other hand I do have mild dyslexia, so read more than most is need to bring that under control.
