Did you ever cry while playing AVNs?

No but there are some that made me really sad. Besides, it's always sad when a good story comes to an end.

Leap of Faith almost got me, but I think something broke in me during the isolation of the pandemic and I seem to be unable to cry anymore.

No, never. The problem is AVN's weak literary basis (plot) and weak character development. I can't empathize with characters outlined in two or three strokes (I'm not talking about graphics). I've already written here many times that the plot of even very popular games and AVNs is the level of average quality fanfiction. Good movies (I'm not talking about comic book movies like Marvel) - yes, they sometimes made me cry a little.

Leap of Faith man... I still can't hear that 'Auld Lang Syne' to this day without remembering.

And yes to both questions...

I can't imagine writing if I couldn't get attached to my characters. Would just be boring and they'd feel so lifeless to me.

I actually had to rewrite parts of EP2 of my game because the direction I was taking it was too difficult for me. I'm all kinds of Autistic which came with a big dose of stupidly strong emotions though so I figured that was just a me thing. Great for writing those romance scenes (if you like mushiness), but not so good for writing other kinds of things.

Also... love the render!
Same. Leap of Faith was I think the first story rich VN I read that REALLY got me into it. Too much I'd say, I felt like someone had died in real life for a few days after reading that. Damn good story telling.

I dont come for the Tears... so no, never. But some got me emotional/angry when i didnt like how the plot play out

not yet eventually will happen and if a game makes me cry it's an instant 10/10

Most VNs when they get sappy I roll my eyes and think "oh brother" but there is one VN that did hit me in the feels unexpectedly and that was MWNeus.

There are few games that have made me shed a tear or two. Usually it happens if the story has presented with character whose story you get emotionally invested in, especially since i am quite empathic towards characters in stories.

Only JAVNs have gotten me to tear up. If my heart had wings is the first that comes to mind. They are hard to put that much time into these days but in college i read a lot of them. They are really long and draw you into the story. some to the point you dont even care about the adult portions.

Definitely feel emotional from a lot of games but never to the point of crying

I do remember there being a few AVNs which struck a chord while I was already particularly emotional and brought me over the edge. I don't believe any have on their own brought me to tears, but some have certainly gotten quite close.

Don't know how active this is but I'm glad I'm not the only one who cries because of some AVNs, the first one to make me cry was Leap of Faith... two parts. One when the MC reads the letter from Steph, and well the really sad part that I don't want to think about. The other one that made me cry is Being a DIK with the last update. Also, I know this isn't the area to ask but uh if anyone has any recommendations on AVNs that won't make me cry i.e. something positive with a good romance let me know please.

BaDIK has made me cry more than once. Especially later episodes (The Maya and Derek family situation. Yikes.).
