A lot of devs tell other ones to stay away from there because of how toxic it is. Others were driven away

Do you prefer when a developer is most active, posts regular status report and interacts with fans or would you rather the developer shut up and just make the game?
Interaction every few months is nice but devs need to understand that fans have no idea of what they actually want.

I like interacting with fans. Every response whether good or bad, gives me motivation to work more and harder to pump out content and hopefully give people the things they want. That and all the theories, feedback and ideas people put out are extremely helpful. Many times I've seen people bring things to my attention that I never even considered, because as a developer you tend to miss things that a player will experience.
Of course, I tend to talk more directly with them on Discord, but on forums such as these, I try to update every so often to let people know I am still working on it and didn't just disappear.

Sometimes when a dev does something particularly dumb (like adding futa, ntr, etc where it didn't exist before and is either unavoidable or not easy to avoid) it can give some not very nice feedback letting them know people are pissed. Or a half-assed ending.

I like having the dev there, but I pity them due to how toxic a game thread could be especially on 95. "why NTR?" "why no NTR" bla bla bla. The threads are always full of whiny assholes that just complain about everything.

prob not too much, for the devs sainty u know, too many quit and rather see projects finished

I love it when developers interact with fans and sometimes even ask what developments they can make to the game.

Indie devs *should* interact with their fans, but they should make sure to keep a separation of their product and the fanbase.
When devs start blending their game with the fanbase it becomes very unapproachable by outsiders.

They definitely should, but don't listen to the crowd that demands ntr, futa, pregnancy, etc to be in every game. First 2 more people hate than like.
