Dentists - Fear of them and everything else

lol, imagine having ANY irrational fear of stuff like that
you should fear and get angry with the government and the its taxes, that is it
That's kinda the point about irrational phobias, they aint rational.

Depends on the dentist. If you have a bad dentist, your experience will be bad and you won't want to go again and your trust in them will be broken. A good dentist will make your visit comfortable and try to reduce your discomfort as much as possible, plus they won't try to just sell you on fillings and give good reasoning why one should be done.

Used to fear them. But now I really want to give them a visit but have no money

If it made sense, wouldn't the fear just be rational?

Not scared, but hesitant for sure. My upper canines and the teeth next to them are not affected by novocaine, so if anything happens there, I have a bad day ahead of me.

The only thing worse than full feeling when being drilled in the mouth is the bill they give afterwards.

I used to be scared of going to the dentist until I started to really take care of my teeth, and start going to them for regular and routine checkups. Once I did that you get used to them via exposure and realize that most of the time you have nothing wrong with your teeth, and that your dentist as well hopes you have nothing wrong with yourself.

Used to be afraid of going to the dentist, but with all the advances in dental techniques and having found a 'good' dentist not so much anymore. Can't say I'm a fan, but not afraid anymore. Do agree with what various others have said though - often the bill at the end of the visit is the most painful thing these days!

Events since 2020 have proven dentists to be the most trustworthy, across the entire for profit healthcare system. Caveat being that you should probably replace amalgam fillings with composite.

Those of you in so-called Socialized Healthcare systems still operate under a for profit system. You just call the oligopolies by different names. They are all trying to cut costs, because the money is gone.

Anyone else out there that has a fear of going to the dentist?
I have such a fear that I can't even be there without wanting to flee.

But now I had to do the necessary as the health of my teeth was so bad but I found a good one. They were able to sedate me so I could sleep through the entire thing. In Sweden it was just recently allowed, before you had to go through a psychologist just to get it diagnosed to be able to get sedation and sleep through the entire procedure.

How is it for you guys and in your countries?
No i don't fear dentists I do fear the bill if I need a root canal.

I've never feared going to the dentist but have never looked forward to it and am always happy when it's over. So painful.

Not a fear, but man it is easy to get out of the habit when you don't have your mom forcing you into the car every six months

Had to get a molar removed because apparently I brushed too hard??? so without it a piece of bone was poking out of my gums they had to drill it a bit just to remove it most painful shit I've experienced painkillers ain't doing NOTHING

There were times I had one hurt and tried to pull it with a pliers, but it didn't work. Also, digging in decayed part with a knife.
