discussion Auto Advance preference yes/no

Auto Advance is indeed a personal preference for me.

It helps speed up text heavy games, and allows you to skip the parts you already played if your saves don't work anymore.

If your game doesn't have it that's a negative.

I prefer not using auto advance since I can finish reading the text on screen pretty quickly and not auto advancing also lets me get a good look at the scene or animation that is on the screen for has long as I want. With that said, all games should come with an auto advance feature that you can toggle on or off.

Ya just hold down ctrl and roll back when needed. Thats what every game needs. If its programmed out, its annoying

I use the click function which is easier. I think the auto use is slow and I'm impatient.

I'm a very fast reader so I only use auto when there's voices to limit myself because cutting off voice lines annoys me more than reading the text super quickly and not being able to immediately progress to the next bit of text

Most times it sucks if a game doesnt allow skip or even auto forward.
Which means only option is to use unren.

BUT if there's a great story i dont see a point for skipping at all. Yeah auto forward helps so you dont have to click always...

I never use it, I like to look at the art a bit so I do it manually.

I like that this option is present, since many games are not in my language so I only see the images, and being able to jump is good

I don't use it because it's slow, even though I just read it and it doesn't even change, so I have to click on it myself, I just use the skip button xd

I don't think I ever seen a game where it's removed. Isn't it a default feature of renpy?

It's needed because VNs with more than one path have a lot of similar parts repeated, even with different choices. I really don't want to have to click though so much of what I've already seen. Also, you might end up skipping something new while you're clicking, thinking nothing is new.

I never use it, sometimes read faster some days and sometimes i read slower, so I never use auto advance. It does makes sense to have as an option for others though.

I have to say, I have never seen good auto advancing options in AVN games. I think we need voice over, for the text, but having good voice over is a story on its own. I haven't seen any good ones.

I think it will only be good when it's a movie.... Which negates the whole VN of AVN...
