Are you worried your job is going to be taken by AI? Do you think your job can be taken by AI?

I'm in accounting so i'm definitely worried about it, I just hope I can retire before it fully takes over.

Computers a;ready do 90% of my job but I'm still needed for decision making on the data presented. Then there's the leg work that needs to be done. Until robots can do that, I'm good. I'll be retired by that time. In later life the robot/A.I. can look after me so I don't have to worry about dying from a heart attack while my caregiver is banging someone in the closet.

you worked in law enforcement & now you hang out on a pirate porn game site.......

tell us some of the illegal shit you got away with for no other reason than you were "in law enforcement"

i've hung out with motorcycle gangs all my life, cops supplied them with everything from dr**s to g**s to pro******s as long as the cops were getting paid in cash they didn't care cause they knew they could hide behind their badge & their union rep.

i'd say more but you don't have the correct credentials.
is that a country cop thing? because in cities I would expect the issues to be more in the police brutality or confiscating items, not dr**s

Fortunately, I work in a crafts business, so as long as AI doesn't learn how to do manual labor, I'm safe

you don't have much experience when it comes to gangs and/or dirty cops do you ?
you may want to catch up on what's in the news. LOL

not too many gangs in buttfug chewing wheatstraw town, but farmer jebediah is tugging those teets to hard, better call in the constabularies !!

Tbh no, police brutality and stealing and confiscating cash in the mail are the top issues that come to mind when I think of the cops, the dirty cop feels more like a movie thing to me. for the small-town thing, I know that they can be overbearing and hide evidence, there was that case where the 3 sons of the police sheriff killed girls they were dating and beating up.

I hang out here for the same reasons you and everyone else hangs out here. I suspect I am in a tiny minority though, who use this site to find VN's I like, and PAY THE DEV for their work. Law enforcement (26.5 years) in my county has a decent retirement program, and I can afford it.

In my personal experience, there was a tiny minority of those who did illegal shit, and they got fired or quit and even arrested and tried in court. The public's perception of law enforcement is almost exclusively based upon what they see on TV or on sites, like YouTube. And, the vast majority never interact with law enforcement. Your experience (hanging around motorcycle gangs all your life) is certainly a very, very rare experience.

What are the correct credentials I don't have?

I work in IT, so if anything I'll be in more demand. AI isn't going to do much if the computer running it breaks.
+1 I also work in IT.
To fix a physically broken computer, to build a computer from scratch, to pull a wired local network: all this AI will not be able to do for a very long time.

Pointing out the obvious to an AI zealot that if the end game is that no one has a job then how will anyone be able to buy anything never gets old to me.
But then again, do they care? Is the money perhaps a means to an end?

Putting my dystopian futurism goggles on for a minute, what if the plan is to get AI to a sufficiently advanced state that it serves their needs as a tool of control (i.e. plug it into killbots or the like)? Then retreat to their bunker/private island/Mars with a some hand picked & loyal people, let the rest of us turn on each other (maybe with a little push here and there), and when it all blows over, come out of seclusion, offering the hope of rebuilding society, have the AI serve as their fanatically loyal & nearly unkillable security force, while they proclaim themselves god-kings in their new utopia, and have the survivors as virtual slaves.

Not yet, although my job is trying to use it to help workflow, but I am in a associate to customer role providing services that require my hands. I don't doubt I will get replaced in like 10-15 years tho if robotics keeps up

I hope so, I want to fight some terminators before I die

I too was in IT (network design) before I got tired of fixing networks and wanted to start fixing people instead. I swear, people have gotten worse at technology in the past twenty years. No one knows how anything works anymore. If AI manages to learn psychiatric sciences I'll have a job in IT waiting for me.

Actually i cant wait for more AI, hoping in the future it can dub anime.

I dunno if it's getting worse, maybe more annoying since people use smartphones but even before you either had people that knew about computers or had massive problems understanding basic things like the file system

My job could theoretically be automated, but it'd require specialized robotics (like on a factory floor) so it's probably cheaper to keep the human

I think the key difference there is that, back in the day, those demographics were pretty cleanly divided by age, and most kids getting at least basic computer classes in schools.
Now, due mostly to Apple making the walled garden approach successful, more and more functions are hidden deeper and deeper in systems
(I have to navigate like 3 menus to open the sound control panel, that used to just be in the right-click options on the taskbar)
and because things have gotten "easier to use" more people are able to "use" a computer or smartphone without actually understanding anything about how it works.
People don't even know where their files are stored anymore because "it's just in the app"

I tried applying for a job to help train AI, but in general I'm not worried about it knowing that even though it will replace jobs it will just create more jobs for people to do. Like back when cars replaced horses and how much jobs that created.

Nope. Never had a career or any important job for AI to take, I just do whatever is available. If anything AI might open some doors for me to go into ventures I never would be able to otherwise.

lmao, not by a longshot

AI concerns are on the rise. I've always expected this to happen even 10 years ago. And yet during that time in interviews, polls or just random conversations, people were never worried about AI taking their jobs. I felt a little smug whenever they said it would be impossible: "just you wait".
i bag groceries so i don't think the tech advanced enough yet, lol.
