I strongly believe that both is true. Everyone is different, weird and therefore the same level of insane and the same level of normal. Trouble are people who think their way of normal is the only right one

People, be comfortable with who you are, just don't confuse fantasy with reality. That's exactly why it's called Fantasy. Nobody is alone. Everyone has a freak flag. I guess when you get older, you're just more comfortable with yourself. Free yourself from mental boundaries but be a good person in your core. Balance!

In order to properly evaluate the question one must first establish what "normal" is. Like you note we have to figure out it's definition and since that is subjective, due to it being evaluated by society, a proper response is relative.

Everyone is both "normal" & "weird". It's subjective. Some people just know the right place/time/person to be weird if they want to be seen as normal. And some other people don't know or just don't care.
