For now, mime and apollo have full control over LC and will be handling site decisions going forward.
I’m stepping back from making site changes for now and letting them decide how to move LC forward.

Wow, I don’t even bother liking most posts. I just like what I actually like and rack up coins. Such is the (happy) life of a slacker perv in the daily theme thread. You get spoiled (with coins) without much effort.
In a way, the daily theme thread is even more lurker-friendly than the anti-social lurker thread . You just do your daily likes and earn coins, no talking required.

May I recommend FitGirl Repacks? She compresses games into sizes that people with limited bandwidth can actually manage. She also separates games into optional language packs, music, and even credit scenes, all of which you can opt out of downloading.
Be careful, though. There are fake sites that imitate FitGirl’s official site. I recommend checking FitGirl Subreddit to know which one is the real site.
It’s worth it, imo. Big games usually get cut in half, while smaller games are often reduced by about one-third.
Unless you don’t want to deal with piracy or cracks and prefer Steam achievements, then I guess it’s out of the question.
Normally I repack for myself. Do get rid off / add stuff I need. Strange, on the sites im browsing I didn't found FitGirlRepacks, but FTL, that always have really outdated repacks. Still thank you for the recommendation, someone will read and use it for sure.
This is why I love what I love: old games and Minecraft.
I love seeing the creative ways developers of the past made in-game environments feel believable using just a handful of default low-poly models, whether through clever placement or programming tricks.
In Minecraft, it’s amazing how people build furniture and details out of blocks in ways you wouldn’t expect, combining them so they actually work.
For bigger studios time is the limiting factor, for smaller sudios it's even the knowledge that something like compression is existent besides webp and some sloppy "reduce quality" functions.
Our industrial customers don't have time to fix their "list of parts". Time = money. So we need to fix this list and lose time and money. To compensate this, we send also sloppy and unfixed "lists of parts" to our suppliers, so that they need to fix our lists and parts with their time and money. The problem is just rolling around in a circle, till it hits the private endcustomer that needs to pay the bill for all that bullshit.
Yeah, I wish games just had a English languages pack only language anyone really needs those other voice lines are just bloat.
Make them DLC and those who want it pay...I would support such idea
Localisations would be great, but how I mentioned above, someone needs to do it and set up the page/downloader, probably needs it to protect against "non-customers". That's again time and money investing in something that probably gives no return of investments.
Instead they could go back to the old installers that specifically asked which languages you wanted to install. You can then choose what you want. However, that's not the 'one click install' ease that a modern consumer expects, so instead they give you everything. It's also why a lot of games freak out if you try to move their directory or the save game locations; they weren't built with any level of user customization in mind.
But even if you have an installer, the files are still there and would bloat it, less but still.
Of course the best would be just the standalone game with checkmarks or downloadlinks to take what is needed (what if the server fot this goes offline in right about, when the sales drop enough?), but that would be a service. Don't even think about it!
Youtube indirectly gives you this service. I tried it with "The digital amazing circus" from glitch.
>download full episode in any language as mp4, mkv, ..
>Just download the mp3 / aac / m4a,.. in the additional languages you need.
>repeat with srt
>multiplex

FMV = "Full motion video", old school game term for using video clips as part of game play.
Back in the 90s there were a bunch of "choose your own adventure" style games where you'd watch a video clip, make a choice, watch another video clip, get another choice, etc. Real easy to code, though the logistics of hiring a film crew and actors was a bit tough. The style mostly started to die out once graphics got past the pixel-y stage of things, and its now quite niche in the grand scheme of things.
Speaking of FMV - Nothing beats - Under A Killing Moon and Overseer. To a lesser degree Phantasmagoria from SIerra.
installers... my pet peve
Having games that include 10-30GiB of extra data for "localization" is ... really annoying.
At least with some titles through Battle.Net etc you can do a selective download of which optional content you need, It would've been nice if all games had this in their storefront.
I guess fitgirl is good when you want to save download size and dont mind waiting ages for the extraction. Even with scene releases I tend to just extract them manually directly to the target folder rather than run setup.exe or .w.e since so many installers are idiotic and extract all files first, then copy to the folder etc. or mess with registry/shortcuts and similar.
You're somewhere in the top league with you 1TB, hard to recommend something.
But still, some directions would be nice like tags.
Also, is your username a random input or a well hidden deeper meaning? I still have no idea how to call you outside if the direct replys. @MattaMus11 gave me already a nickname with his philosophical rampage against greenery.
Or restricted by work ethics and pride in creating a quality product.
But I guess the customers and the companies they work for do not pay them to create quality anymore.
Worst example is probably the loading bug in GTA5 that went unfixed for 5+ years until a player found out what it was and fixed it, and the media attention forced them to fix it - eventually. All those shark cards didn't improve the game performance at all.
