I know that the cards made their move but in grand scheme of things it does not really change anything.
Unless somehow they really make the cards bow by regulation or by might it won't matter.
Maybe if they buy enough of the stocks and get enough control that would be a game changer.

I think we ALL hate that you are correct. Operation fight fire with fire is nice and all, and you might be able to argue that it's working, but for how long? People need to aim higher, and sadly that is a real pain in the ass to do. Even if the payment processor overlords cave in this time, who is to say that they will next time. Regulation is needed, and the process for convincing the US government to regulate shit makes most people go "Fuck it, I will just deal with the censorship, this isn't worth it."

You're correct as well. Every time they pull something like this is the same old trick. They take a foot and give us back 10 inches. Creators have doubts, consumers are shaken and sellers have adjusted their rules. Even if the card companies reverse what they're doing, we can't go back to where we started.

This wasn't directed at me, but yes that is sort of what's being said. More accurately, it's that things CAN be done, but mostly it won't achieve anything meaningful until regulation comes into play and slaps them down. Operation fight fire with fire has been seeing some level of success by annoying the shit out of VISA and MC, but long term that is all it will probably achieve. The most realistic outcome currently (from my point of view) is that VISA and MC will offer some kind of apology, they might even back down this time, but they've done this before, and they will do it again. Complaining about it IS important, because if we roll over and take it then the chances of regulators doing anything decreases, but complaining alone isn't going to solve the issue, we still need people in higher positions to put payment processors in their place.
