Fair, but at least for me whenever I see anything clown related, the first thing that comes to mind is the 2016 killer clown epidemic/2016 clown sightings that every news org seemed to report on non-stop at the time. Kind of drains the fun from the theme.

The secret to not having this happen is to never let yourself think!

Jokes aside, I used to struggle with this for a while. What really helped me was having background noise you can faintly pay attention to while laying down. Youtube videos or a tv show can help a ton, since if you start to get into that rabbit hole you can just force yourself to pay attention to whatever is happening on a screen. If you get a U shaped neck pillow and sleep on your side you can wear headphones to bed, letting the ear cup on the headphone sit in the inside of the U. I recommend putting the bottom of the U against your shoulder and laying it flat on your pillow.

I live in an area where there is logging sporadically through the year.
I still get nervous if I'm behind a log truck.

Шутки в сторону, я какое-то время с этим боролся. Мне действительно помог фоновый шум, на который можно было бы едва обращать внимание, лёжа. Видео на YouTube или сериалы могут очень помочь, ведь если начнёшь погружаться в эту кроличью нору, можно просто заставить себя сосредоточиться на происходящем на экране. Если у тебя есть U-образная подушка для шеи и ты спишь на боку, можно надеть наушники, чтобы амбушюры наушников оказались внутри U-образной подушки. Я рекомендую прижать нижнюю часть U-образной подушки к плечу и положить её плашмя на подушку.

Yeah, that's happened to me too. Awful way to wake up, finding them snapped like that. That's why I mentioned the U shaped neck pillow thing, if you set it up right you have a bit more support around your head so the pressure isn't put onto the headphones themselves. It's a bit less comfortable to sleep like that, but at least you don't have to deal with The thoughts, and that is a tradeoff I am very willing to take.
