Actually now that I think about it, you're right that most sushi sucks. I was thinking only of quality sushi that I really enjoy. But your examples of foods without sauces...I would argue that most Italian, Indian and Mexican foods are either in a sauce or are usually accompanied by a sauce. Anyways, I was married to a sauce person for 15 years, our fridge had so many damn sauces in it.


I agree. I'd probably tire of sushi if I ate it everyday, also quality is a major factor. I agree most sushi sucks, I was just thinking of quality sushi and how good that is.

What is a sauce if not spice that gets added in post. If some food is better with some sauce, it should not disqualify it from being good. If the sauce essentially replaces the food, then that is another story.
