Never liked Dr Who. Tried watching a couple episodes of it in the 80s on PBS and was like "WTF???"

A lot of the affection for Dr Who was because it is so unapologetically "campy" and ridiculous Just like the "Gorn"episode of Star Trek is now when viewed through modern eyes.

That's a bit before my time, I was a kid in the 80's... I looked it up on YouTube though, he's got range!

I'm from the first couple years of Gen-X. Saw it on PBS (along with lots of other British comedy) in my early teens, starting around '80 or '81. By the time you were in your teens, I'm pretty sure cable was the norm - it was the exception for me - so you had many more options. With internet and streaming, there's so much crap out there now that those of us that know of the really GOOD stuff that spawned all of the knock off crap of today need to keep it in the conversation so that it stays alive.

Yeah I was a teen in the 90's and I lived in a very rural area with no access to cable and my parents refused to get satellite...so I was at Blockbuster very often
