It's early morning for me. Still struggling with finishing these last few paragraphs of my writing. I know how I want it to end in a general sense but everything I come up with just feels wrong; I'm trying to listen to music to inspire me and if I can't get anywhere soon I'm calling it quits. I'd rather not but I haven't hit writers block this bad in years.

I don't dislike HS, but I do prefer the HS2 - I even prefer the way Cari does HS2 to the things many do with Daz3D.

As for "scenes" - I'm talking about the overall visual appeal. Yes - the "scenes" you mean are a very fun and enjoyable aspect, but I'm in it for the "N" as much as the "A". However, the "N" is much more appealing when the "V" is done well - character design, environment design, lighting, etc. I loved the way OIALT was done - very visually appealing - but so many hate on HS for it being less "realistic" than a well put together HS2 or Daz3D, and now AI, AVN, so I wanted to point that aspect out in case someone has a prejudice against the format. Personally, I've rejected a couple of AI VNs for being too realistic looking - these things are supposed to be distinguishable from reality in my mind, not very nearly real.

Overall with VNs, I want well done and cohesive visuals, regardless of scene type, since that is part of the experience. When it comes to regular novels, I can build the scenes in my head, and always do. That's why I typically don't read a book at my top speed - I like to savor the words and create the visuals and sounds in my mind, not just consume text.

And I hope you do find some things you really like on that list. I have fun with a lot of goofy/silly VNs as well, but the ones I enjoy most have a little bit of nuance and a reasonably crafted story. As you said, if it's only about the naughty bits, regular porn is a better choice.

You know, every time I see retards with their pants hanging off their ass like that, especially when they have a belt, it makes me want to summon ol' @conzibald and bend these little bitches over and turn them into the little sissies they really are.

Well, I'm sure you've already heard of Doom and Quake unless you're pretty young (don't worry, not going to ask).

There's also Hexen, Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, Marthon, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage...

Hello nostalgia.

I'm not sure how many (if any) of these games are available but hopefully some names can get you started.

I remember Rise of the Triad quite fondly because it released while I was still very young and my Dad, who was very open to me playing violent video games even at that age due to my nightmares and night terrors - thinking games of the time like Doom could be a positive influence (which they were, for me) because you're literally fighting demons and monsters - hesitated with Rise of the Triad because the enemies in that game can surrender and you can choose to kill them anyway, unarmed and defenseless.

He took the time to explain why he was holding back for a while with that one, and then we played it together and I remember the first time I shot one of the characters after they surrendered. All he did was ask me why I did it. "..they would have just tried to hurt me again." is what I told him and it made him smile. He told me later that the reason he smiled was because I thought about it, weighed the consequences, and chose to keep myself safe.

As far as modern retro "style" games are concerned, I'd have to do more research. Beyond AVN's with my wife and game time with my kids I don't really have a lot of time to game myself anymore so I'm not in the loop there. Feel free to DM me your interests or mention here anything I can use to try and dial-in some recommendations for you though because I'm more than happy to help.

@Dean Wincester So, I was editing my post to avoid a double-post, created a horizontal like the one you see below and inserted your quote underneath followed by my reply and hit post.

Earlier today I accidentally double-posted because I was doing basically the same thing (editing a post to avoid a double) but was flipping through tabs and didn't notice that I started typing in the new post box instead of the edit.

I know that's the mistake I made earlier, but I don't think that's the mistake I made again. I'm deep into my Johnnie Walker though so I'm an unreliable narrator.

As far as writing is concerned, it's nothing professional. I write in my downtime late at night - nothing I have published and nothing I ever intend to. Just one of my little mental retreats and outlets for myself mostly, though my wife has read most of what I've written.
