What is fair? The Top 10% pay 72% of the taxes. 40% of US households pay NO federal income tax. I hate taxes. Please tell me why ANYONE deserves a single penny of MY paycheck*? I once thought a flat tax would be the perfect solution. It isn't. Even if everyone paid 10% of their income, it would hurt the poor more. So tell me, what is fair? How do you define fair? Because if you say the rich should carry more of the burden, they already do, but that's not "fair".
Infrastructure is mostly paid for by taxes. Roads, electricity, police, fire department, phone services, etc. I use those services, so yes, I feel I should pay taxes to support those items. As for social programs, yes, I believe people need safety nets and help at times. I was on welfare a long time ago. I understand. Personally, I think people should have to work, provide SOME service, to get benefits. The Earned Income Credit program is awesome and I love that program, we should have more like that.
Just some thoughts... one last thing, check this YT video...
That is an aspect of american (yes I know that Watchmojo is a canadian brand) culture that I always fail to understand. How everything is a competition even when to it comes to things that can't be ranked, like music, movies, and so on.
I know growing up, we always strived to be the best at ... whatever we were doing. Even as an adult, this is ingrained in my nature. My wife did track and cross country growing up. I hated running. I would show up at the gym, she would have already ran a mile or two, then we would run 2 miles. Always sprinting at the end. Finally, I beat her. But I was exhausted after that. She would laugh and go do several more laps to cool down. The important thing to remember is: I WON! lol
Down to about 60 pages baby! The journey is nearly over.
I stole this picture and I can't wait to send it in the family (we have 8 cats) chat room! BWAHAHAHA! I don't know where you got it, but thank you!!!!

That's interesting. Any chance you have the source?
Please define "rich". What range of wealth are we talking about?
