They got rid of all the filler episodes of the original. From what I can remember, the story is closer to the manga.

Ranma last aired 35 years ago. There's plenty of people who've never seen the original and won't touch older anime even if the source materiel is good.

And honestly, a lot of older anime is pretty heavy on budget scenes.

Mrs Takahashi, the author of Uruseiyatsura, never shied away from giving us some sexy charachter.

I watched one episode to see what the remake was like. The censorship is kind of creepy. Nobody has nipples or ass cracks and the whole thing quickly becomes uncanny to watch.
