It just "happened" when I was in school if you wanted to go into the sciences they said to learn German, now they suggest Chinese but not really seriously because everyone settled on English because of the Brits doing their colonization thing followed by the US becoming dominant in business, trade and military bases. Before German it was French, before that - Latin. The first time I was in Austria and China almost no one spoke English -- the next time 10 - 15 years later - damn near everyone did.

I try to duolingo for like a year before I visit a foreign country, but my knowledge disappears as soon as my trip's over.
If you speak any other language, English is a great choice for your second language since it shows up everywhere. Meanwhile if you already speak English, there's like 30 perfectly good options of language number two. Spanish is an obvious #2 for Americans just based on number of speakers you encounter, but I'd rather learn Italian or German - neither of which were options in my school growing up.

Yeah I wanted to do a snowman that was goth or a red head. But it just wasn't turning out. Awhile back i forget the theme but the idea I got was to create Voodoo dolls. So I had voodoo dolls that were goth superhero and things like that. Some came out looking a bit more like dolls. But I still really liked them. Didn't do to well with everyone else tho. Didn't get much for reactions on some and 1 or 2 mentions in the mime awards. But I was still happy with how they turn out
