Lets not forget how outrageous the pricing is to see concerts, live events. You say support the artist, I have no problem there. But I'm not paying $200 to see a concert for a band who stopped being relevant w0 years ago.

When you price goods constantly out of reach of the market, people will find other means.

Right now concerts are the main income source for any "pure" musician. For Juggernauts like Rhianna, Taylor Swift or Beyoncé music is a relatively small part (20 to 30%) of their income, while smaller acts have to rely on that income to keep on going. Old dinosaurs have to overprice their tickets if they want to keep their expensive lifestyle. That's why I don't have any remorse pirating them while supporting indie/niche artists

Agree on they are treated bad but I will not forgive the shit they did with regulations back in the days.

My mind goes to a particular heavy/trash metal group who destroyed Napster. As if piracy didn't help new, lesser known artists broaden their fanbase.

I remember when records were the main way to get music (much of the 1980s.) They sucked. They'd skip all the time.

Not to mention they degrade over time and, not taking any production issues into consideration, vinyl is a compressed format. Don't believe me? Google RIAA curve (nerd stuff, beware)

Don't forget the cassette tapes and rewinding/fast forwarding to get to a song you liked. At least you could skip on the record. And then there were the times the player would eat the tape.

The price is based on the demand, how big the artist is or was.
There's also the thing where less and less people go to concerts so prices rise up to keep the same profitability.

The problem with this is, a good will always be considered out of reach to someone. That's what i meant by piracy always exists.

There will always be piracy, but that's not what I'm saying. Prohibitive cost adds more to piracy. A good example atm is all these games on here. While we know these games cost time and money to make, most of us are not going to pay an appreciable amount og money EVERY month for a couple of renders. Some people will for the passionate they have for the game, but is it worth it?

Piracy has existed since there was something to pirate. I like to think, even if I'm wrong, that people given the money would happily pay a reasonable price for goods and services.

I'm rambling, and really have more to discuss because it's a fascinating subject. I see your point of view, but I disagree that it's the consumers fault in this.
