Hey does anyone know a good way to find out what game a Renpy savedata folder belongs to? I made a thread about this earlier but it's likely to just sink into the maelstrom of threads.

Never really needed to go in those folders so i don't know, sorry

yeah i did not welcome him yet as just around that time my mood went to foul but it is more stable now

it is only -10 celsius right now.

Somebody said @Evil Surgeon had a "purdy mouth" last night...
But, then, I had a thought...
You shouldn't have such a purdy mouth, Evil.

Have you even been to the Zoo yet? Mine is tame compared to Evil Sturgeon.

Hey!

mine is a work of art!

how is everyone doing today?

A little sick at the moment. I'm not feeling very as bad as i did this morning, but I'm still recovering

It's either /game/saves or C:/Users/(yourusername)/AppData/Roaming/Renpy/

Great! Was supposed to be a work day, but work canceled so now I can just stay home and chill

Not sure I fully understand your question... most if not all save data folders have the name of the game on them or at least an acronym and sometimes even the version. why would you be having a hard time figuring out the game?
You can also load the savefile into save file editor and check the variables... give you a clue...

I believe they are asking about how to know what game one save folder in particular belongs to, not where to find the saves

OK so what's that and where do I find it? Obviously the folder isn't the same name as the game(cuz I ain't played no game called Three) or I wouldn't be asking

Edit: OK followed another's advice, got the Renpy SDK open in front of me. How do I copy paste the save files into it so I can see the images of them?

Nothing, yet. Was doing some seasoning mixes for the turkey and a couple other things for next week, got some butter softening to make a compound butter for under the skin, will be doing a batch of gumbo for pre-Thursday meals and pre-making Bisquick sausage-n-cheese balls to have around for breakfast and snacks. But none of it is cooking at present.

OK this kinda helped. I'm seeing "default values", shit that'd be true/false or whatnot. But I'm not seeing anything that helps ID the game

Note sure what your folders look like, or what VNs you're playing, but most of mine have easy to discern names. There are a few here and there that are cryptic, and if you're playing a lot of the M+ VNs, those might be more obfuscated. But, just to be clear...

Spoiler: ...I'm referring to these, under the RenPy folder:

If you have something similar, I'd eliminate the VNs that are obvious, and then just try to see what's left. If you have the VNs loaded, you can open them, create a new save in a slot, then see what folder updated last. You can't change the name, but you can make note on a .txt file or something to put in the game's top folder with any other game notes you may keep.

If this isn't what you're talking about, then maybe we need some pictures for clarifications.

I found the game by going to "the other site" and simply searching a name from the game. Didn't have any hits here, so had to see what'd happen there and boom! Got me answer. Doublechecked by doing your method of making a new save and confirmed. It's Not Going Back which isn't on here so no wonder I didn't get any hits. The savedata folder is named Three-1653671486

Yeah - there are a few folders that refer to something other than the title and I've had some confusion before. Glad you were able to suss it out.
