I'm the split here. LOVED Sekiro, but I know it didn't resonate with many people - I have a friend who basically only plays FromSoft games and Sekiro is so far down the bottom of his pile. So, it's nice to see other people loving it. Buuuut, I also LOVED Elden Ring - so, I'm also part of the general populus I guess. I'm not a fanbear by any means, only played DS1, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. I just think the world Elden Ring gave us was such a fantastic place to explore, it had so many "Wow" moments for me, slowly uncovering how big and intertwined the landscape was.

I finished 3 DS games, Elden Ring and Sekiro. I have no clue what Elden Ring or any of the DS games were about after finishing. Just a brief idea but 70% of the plot went over my head. I understood Sekiro though. And I love feudal Japan. Shit, I just love Japan in general. Might take a holiday there next year. Sure, nothing wrong with loving ER. I'm probably more critical for other reasons. I did enjoy the game but I don't think it's better than even 50% of the games people compare it to. ER comes out and suddenly everyone claims it's the best game ever made, better than The Witcher 3. Yeah right, go get bent Baldur's Gate 3 comes out and the same claims again. Suddenly everyone forgets that every old school Bioware game is leagues ahead of it in combat and story, like it's some revolutionary shit. And don't even get me started on Red Dead Redemption 2 fans, So yeah, I may be a bit overly critical of those 3 games because of their fan base

Like I said the only franchise I like with fromsoft is Tenchu, I beat DMC 1-5, Tales of franchies Vesperia,Symphonia,Abys, ect, NieR:Automata ,Ninja Gaiden(OG) and Remakes, and Nioh, I wont be convicted that any of Souls game are hard when at the end the day it common sense.
O NO IM GETTING ONE SHOT BUT ILL WIN GUYS. Maybe git better equipment and grind up before boss fight

You can steal anything at any time. The only rule is whoever eats the most trash wins the game. And only I can be the top hat. That's a rule too. Don't check the rulebook. It's true. Raccoon's honor.

The board is actually made of boards people threw in the trash. You can eat that too. Come to think of it, it's more dinner than boardgame.

I was merely pointing out I shared our interest in Sekiro, haha. I'm certainly not one of those "lol FromSoft is hard" people. That just sounds like the vocal internet masses.

Most of time when I honest speak about Souls I got use to speaking to the "lol FromSoft is hard" people who don't play anything els but Souls/ what ever Social Media vomit into there face.

Haha. Can't let fan bases determine your own critiques! But I think it's totally fine to not think these games are as revolutionary as people say.
To add to your list, Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Another game that came out and "revolutionised" everything and is shielded from critique online. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the Zelda I love. It was a good game, but a bad Zelda game - in my eyes.

You've both just reminded me about something actually!
My friend who basically only plays FromSoft games... Actually he's a terrible gamer. Barely ever played games and he's shit at most of them. But he loves DS. It seems like such an unlikely pairing, he fell in love with the atmosphere more than anything. If the games are "impossible" it would be impossible for him, who is almost a casual gamer, but they're not. It's learn attack patterns, etc. Like you and @Vkun say
However, I'd disagree about one thing - I think its fair to still call them hard. And I don't think that, just because other games out there might be harder, it means DS are easy or "common sense". They're actually really punishing games, and to say they're not is a disservice. But what they're not, is impossible. And what they're not, is unfair. I think that's the difference. I think FromSoft do a LOT of internal work to ensure their games straddle that line really nicely, where their games are hard, but fair.

Oh, and all this Nier: Automata talk is making me want to play through it all over again... All 1 million times.

I loved XIII, but liked XV a lot less.
It's still a good game, but you know, what we had definitely was not worth the near 15 years wait for it from when it got announced as Versus XIII. Also i prefer turn based to action based

I got a friend like that to IRL but they keep trying to convince that there is no harder game than Souls, then they gets salty when I joke about any one who fast can curb stomp the portags of of any Souls game out of existence, weather its from eastern devs or Western dev

Same. Not interested in 11 or 14. 10 was amazing though. 9 was good too but didn't age too well. Will get to Rebirth and 16 soon. Didn't realize 16 was disappointing. That sucks. I'm already disappointed they brought Zack back in 7. Spinoff characters should stay spinoff characters. Cloud X Aerith for the win. Or Cloud X Aerith X Tifa X Yuffie X Jessie X anything else that moves excluding Zack. I hope they kill him off again in the 3rd game

I really tried but I failed to get any enjoyment out of BotW. After 2 hours, I stopped and deleted. Too many better things to play...like the Pokemon games

XIII XII-2 and LR could of been 1 game with 2 disc Blue Rays but Because someone with green X did not want to use blue-ray and use dinky DVDs that fucked up development for both games along with other contributing factors in the background.

Being from the north and living in the south, I can confirm this is true. We almost never get snow where I live, but even when it rains, the drivers are idiots and there are so many accidents.

I am the same, case in point, i still liked XV despite it being action based.
Also big fat YES to persona, all the homies love Persona. Which one was your favourite? I still need to finish 1 as well as both versions of 2, so i don't have a definitve answer yet for myself.

Story of 16 got hit hard with D.E.I harder than Rebirth. Shit 16 don't even feel like a Final Fantasy. Id give them slack if it played like Dissidia but no. If I want to play God of war or Devil May Cry Id play those instead.

Yeah, I am not hugely into gore movies. Deathbell is bit too much gore for my like. I usually dont know directors either, but recently, I been more fascinated by certain directors of Japanese Horror. I should actually learn some USA directors. I just often get lazy lol. As for Asian Horror, I agree, these days Hollywood has gone to the toilet sadly. They used make so many very decent Horror and movies in general, but I agree, Korea are certainly getting very good, and Japan is still number 1 for certain style, like Horror and some action. I even seen some decent Chinese movies sometimes.

I actually had to look up DeathBell. You are right it is S Korean. I thought was Japanese. My bad, but I never seen it, just heard about it, or read it online while ago. Did you watch this one?

Yeah, Death Bell has a lot of gore. I'm ok with gore, but in horror, I prefer when the horror is from a man, and not a supernatural entity. Man I know how to deal it, supernatural is more complicated... kkkkkkk

Yes, its been a while. I even watched Gosa 2 (Death Bell 2), but is not as good as the first one.

I remember doing the last stretch really easily and fast, maybe it was more an hour, i don't know, but i certainly don't think it was an entire third of the whole game, that sounds like way too much.
