I actually read the whole series recently for the first time because a friend was complaining about the show.

A lot of the lore ended up not mattering at all, there were so many things left unexplored because the author never got to finish the books himself. I haven't seen the show, but there was no way that they could have made a good adaption. The series was a very poor choice for a TV show.

I think a reasonable series covering some of the books could have been managed by a skilled writing team.

I never saw a single commercial or advertisement for that game, i hadn't even heard of it until it had already been canceled. I've never seen gameplay or anything other than headlines but i've got to imagine with some better marketing they would at least not be in this sorry of a state

I caught some early reviews, but not early enough. It had just been cancelled and Sony was refunding pre-purchases.

IMHO the lore is the only aspect that could and should have been taken "as is" into the show. Instead they ignored the male/female aspect of the magic system, never really explained the taint, in the first season they implied that the Dragon could have been reborn as woman, but never explained why the world should have been scared of a female channeler, and the list goes on.
I also believe that that a good adaptation could have been made. Just ignore some of the "side quests" that take way too much space in the books.
Unfortunately they decided to add unnecessary sub plots, decided to dumb down most of the charachters plus the usual shortcuts that plague modern entertainment such as teleportation (no, since you read the books, I'm not talking about Traveling), incongruent charachter behaviour and so on.

I heard the second season was better, but have yet to make myself watch it.

fucking hell, found one of my internet problems.

When the cable guys got here, they found the wiredrop to the house was full of water, which explains the bad connection I had. However unknown to me until I researched it my router decided to do a firmware update while having the "bad" internet, so the firmware was failing.
I downloaded the correct firmware and now my internet is more stable. Now I might be able to start using my media server finally

Played it on the PS1 back in the day, now they have the three originals on gog!

There are some texture mods out there to, to make it look at little better than that time.

Yeah RE4 is where the action took the front seat instead of the horror.
Probably wouldn't recommend RE Village, if you didn't like RE7.

I meant the remake, I played before the the last gen remaster, alongside the Resident Evil 4 "only for" GameCube, which was one of the most rereleased and ported games ever. Hahaha
The original remake for me is the apex of a game remake. It improved it all without changing much.
The Resident Evil 2, while I liked it, had some things which I still prefer on the original.
I did already talk about the series here on this thread, but don't remember.
It was just after I started coming here, I still didn't knew anyone.

having water with electrical doesn't sound good. hope the water didn't do any long term damage to the wiredrop.
