Jack Black was great when he wasn't being kid friendly. I don't mind him doing kids stuff when it make sense, or even doing voices, but when they just have him be a sensitized version of himself it is tiring and played out.
Also, Steve from minecraft is an every man, so get paul rudd, or that guy from arrested development, not fucking Jack Black. Know what you're making!

I've never played Minecraft. So I have no idea who this Steve person is. What I know about minecraft I learned from south park.

At first I thought it was a fake trailer until I saw Jason Momoa. I'm with you on School of Rock, I don't get the love for it either.

I haven't watched it in years but as I recall it's competently written and there are a lot of characters who all get at least a little arc, so I'd imagine there are people that identify with one or two of the kids especially if they watched it when they were about that age. Some people are just wired to get really attached to fictional characters.

I really liked School of Rock and The Pick of Destiny. I also think I liked Tropic Thunder, though I admit I don't remember much. Hahaha

Steve is the name of the male default character in the game. It mostly doesn't matter in game, everyone just changes out the default skin for their own anyway, but now he's one of the mascots with the female default (whose name I forgot). Drag queens have beards all the time, so that may not even go against him being in drag

I think the only time I like the Rock is in the FandF franchise, Cena was terrible in it though.

It was a movie doom to fail seeing as it's both confusing and piss in everyone's cheerios

I think he's trying to go the Kevin Hart route and make as much movie money as he can.
Lots of people have fond memories of his earlier stuff, so why not capitalize?

If it's not already in the works which it may well be after Super Mario Bros and Sonic did well, I think it will depend on this Minecraft movie. I think major movie studios are going to get whipped by the business-focused suits after losing hundreds of millions of dollars on movies in 2022 and 2023, and if the winds aren't blowing toward video game adaptations they aren't going to greenlight them.

The tax write-offs for these huge failure movies are so big, they won't care.

As an actor he kind of plays the same character in every movie, with the minor exception of School of Rock where he starts as that character but has an arc of growing out of it. It doesn't help that it looks like the other characters in this Minecraft movie are also just stereotypes written by writers who wish they were Joss Whedon.

Maybe they should have stopped watching Whedon's shit after Serenity, then.
Because it looks like they saw Justice League and got inspired

Tax write-offs don't recoup costs entirely, and that's still a loss when factoring in opportunity cost. I'm talking about the guys that couldn't care less about making a good movie, but they care a lot about making money, and breaking even isn't making money.
