But the shitty thing is that if you do X you either are put in jail for Y time or pay a Z amount.I've tried using trucks but the system for automating them just makes me frustrated. Way easier to use lines of stacked conveyors or a train.
The main advantage of fixed fines is that they don't require any analysis of the person's income. If you want a scaled fine you have to have the person swear to how much money they make and probably provide written proof. It's more work for everyone. I think things like points on driving license, community service and other alternative punishments to fines/prison are generally better if the crime doesn't merit imprisonment.
That way the poor people are always the one being imprisoned, while the rich don't mind paying and sometimes even do it again because they don't care.
Here sometime ago the son of a rich businessman killed two people by running over them with his car at the same block, but years apart one from the other, and both times he just paid a hefty fee and that was it.
