I did used to have quite a few BJDs from Japan. They were beautiful, but (again) IRL stuff happens and you try to sell things that will make the most money.Although, NO man should every have tie shoelaces THAT small.
If they're kinda beat-up, incomplete, no Minifigures, no instructions- unless you're going to play with them, find some one who will enjoy them. If you're not doing anything with them- I'm sure some kid would love to have them.
THAT is the beauty of Legos though- you buy a set, it's a boat. You don't have to build the boat. You can make a castle, a plane, a car, a spaceship... Whatever you want. You can even use other sets to just make or add on to an existing build. It IS one of the most versatile toys in the world.
I'll get the knock-off ones, if the set is good enough. I recently got the Serenity ship from Firefly. Mainly because Lego (more or less) refused to make it even though it won the 10,000 votes to be considered for production...
They released a statement/excuse saying that it has "thematic tones and adult situations" (something like that) that they didn't feel were right for their product. YET, they've made "Pirates of Caribbean" and "Fast and the Furious" Legos... and other similar themed sets (with similar content).
I smell a conspiracy.
I think two of the main problems are American don't have the senses of humour they used to and they're greedy.
They wouldn't do things like they do on Japanese Game shows because they'd get "their feelings hurt" and "want everything".
I had a buddy show us a video of some "Game Show" from Japan when he'd go there on business trips.
It was 2 people from the audience and 2 famous Heavy Metal guitarists \m/ and they would ask trivia questions, play games, and play riffs on their guitars in different musical styles.
EVERYBODY involved looked they were really enjoying themselves and just having fun- AND at the end of it? There was no prize, no money, no brand new car...nothing. They all just had a good time and that was it. You could NEVER have a show like that in the US. It just wouldn't be very popular.
Wow. That is such an interesting way to describe that whole thing...
So it's like a "jizz-tribute", but in real life? In theory, the "jizzee" has no idea that's what's happening to them because they're not technically "there"- it's in the perception of the "jizzer"?
Interesting.
This reminds of the episode of "One Foot in the Grave" where Victor Meldrew goes to his corner shop and orders "popcorn", but there's a language barrier between him and guy behind the counter and Victor doesn't realize it's a videotape and not food.
When he gets home he finds out it's an X-rated movies about the police- it's "cop porn".
