The problem is that there's no way to tell if this was drawn by a sexy mime or made using AI, right @Guz89 ?

You got coherent text. No fucking way that's AI.
Unless it's an AI pig with photoshopped text.....

I wasn't involved in the decision, but I've seen a lot of the discourse around AI art in the last year-ish (not on this site, but on the web in general) and I imagine what it boils down to is this: AI generated art is getting very realistic very fast. Everything on this site we accept as OK because it's all fake, so no harm is being caused by it / no harm comes from creating it. Obviously, anything that is real is very much not fucking okay.

So, what about AI that looks real? Alright, you can probably argue that it's not harmful (although even that is dubious because the AI had to be trained on something), but the problem comes when you allow stuff that is fake but looks real, because then bad actors can start passing off stuff that is real as "oh no it's just AI gen don't worry about it". That is the situation everyone should be striving to avoid. There should never be any confusion about whether or not something is real, because the moment you allow something that might be there is every chance the kind of people we don't like will take advantage of that little loophole. Can't let that door crack open, not even a sliver.

All that in mind, I totally understand the scorched earth and then tone it down approach of the mods, that's not the kind of thing you can gradually increase restrictions on to find the right spot, you gotta take it all the way to fuck no and then tone it back to what you'll allow.
Interesting! I didn't really consider it from the angle of morality or dubious realism. I've dabbled a lot in AI art in the past couple month, from photos to music to code to poetry, and it's all just been a hobby project that I haven't really shared with anyone (aside from some funny songs). I had different feelings about it until I actually dove in to see how good and bad it was. Now I just think of it as a tool. It can be useful to get me started on a project but won't complete anything for me on its own. With that mindset, I'm pretty far from thinking about things like stealing from artists and depicting real people in an artificial way. And yeah, I agree that the nuclear option makes moderation much more manageable. It's just awkward when there's a rule but that rule is explained in a forum a newb can't access.

Thanks for clarifying. 🙏 Without historical context, why is there a rule for AI art specifically? I can guess it's probably because people were abusing the line in some gray area, so a hard and fast rule needed to be made to stop a trend that would have caused more problems for the site. Is my guess correct? It just seems odd from the perspective of a newcomer. But this is the internet. If people can ruin things, they often will ruin things.
Hosting and legal reasons I believe.

For those asking, this means "no realistic AI generated images".

So I have to ask. Does that mean the word permanent is going to get changed? Since it was stated that P4 could be taken away from people

It's permanent unless you break the rules and get your access revoked.

No, "blurring lines" is a phrase that here means you're trying to do things that are almost not allowed.

Thanks for the explanation

Damn everyone is on AI again hahaha.....what if it was real hand drawn realistic art?
Asking for a friend haha

I think you are all overthinking. Art is simple as 1,2,3

It depends on the quality of the generated images. If they are good, it will be difficult to say the least, and I don't think a mod would want to spend a few hours judging an image ;)

I assuming that's next on the worldwide puritanical tour.

A part of me wants to take free online courses, learn to draw and/or paint the most realistic stuff, post it with a day by day proof composition that it's NOT computer... then flip off the puritanicals on every other website but LC... but... by the time I've learned the skills... that'll be illegal world wide too.

No... Not THAT part... fuckin' pervs.
Cuz THAT's the takeaway you guys got from my post?

Did I hear someone say Firefly is the best 1 season show EVER! ... If not then I will.
Cannot and will not argue with that. Shiny.

It was a good enough "one hit wonder" that they later made a movie with same primary actor/s called "Serenity" which is the name of their ship. the movie is actually decent, and like the show, underrated.
Didn't you just love the villain, Chipotle Elijahwood, or whatever his name is- he wasn't really evil. That dude is good in everything he does, ngl.

Either. 🤣
For me, the things that happened in the movie always made me dislike it. It was the 100% proof nail-in-the-coffin moment that there wouldn't be a season 2. No getting together of the crew, no conclusion to any of the many plot arcs. It just axed itself. I barely remember anything that happened in it and I still dislike it vehemently. 😅
You watched it out of order...
The show was cursed right out of the gate.
It had a bad schedule slot.
The schedule slot was moved to a worse slot.
The episodes were aired out of order.
Not all of the episodes were even broadcast. It's amazing anybody got to see it at all.
The show was cancelled well before the movie was made. The movie was kind of a love letter/fan service to us "Browncoats" to give us "some" kinda closure and fill in the gaps that a Season 2 would have answered. It was a compressed series in the form of a film. :geek:

The "Mom & Pop" places are usually the best. Franchises don't care- they don't have to, they know you'll buy their crap.
i notice this. So far I am aware Pizaahut and Eagleboys USA used to be in cities in Japan, but I think they seem to have shrunk and the local owned places make much better because Japanese people are fussy and don't like eat shit food. if the place is not clean oir the food is not cooked with love most Japanese will refuse to go there and the place will close. those huge franchise are not always the best and I get tired of these huge mega USA and foreign companies take over local business, but here it is not so terrible. Not that I am against USA or foreign food places, just feel they, like you say, don't care, so fuck them.

I agree, but then again, I AM a guy- so I prefer the cute girls (and if they happen to be Vampires- even better).
well, I am safe from this. I am not attractive after 4,000 years and us old old people are best seen when there is no light, in dark room hahaha but cute vampire girls are something certainly to enjoy

I am still waiting on them to arrive- I've even got a party platter ready to go when they get here...eventually. ;)
Dam thralls. Maybe they decided to stay in the Pacific Islands somewhere. I will need to send the death hounds to kill them if they dont arrive and party with you soon

sleep well

well i guess no more pic posting from me on this thread. got bunch of those

Sadly, I was also informed that my pics/gifs were banned when I posted real people ones. I was told the same as tis, about breaking rule, so I just use these anime 2d fantasy ones. I think the rules with this are strict but I suppose its a rule so tis why this happens. I hope you still visit this thread. I like reading and chat to you. Maybe just stay with the 2D fantasy stuff.

That shouldn't be too difficult to fix in photoshop I think?

I'm not really good with this stuff, I just did a brief test:

Mhm, the inside of the second D could be a bit smoother, I think?
That's clearer. Good job

today's backreading wasn't so much fun when I realized that we can't post a picture of a dog in the park if it's realistic.
I can understand and accept the rule about minors, but no realistic photo is a bit much
