Compared to what they were trying to push...these rules are 100% reasonable. Almost everything I do is obviously AI (I've done some close to realistic stuff that probably wouldn't pass muster now, but not a ton) I'll wait and see what gets nuked form my image threads to see exactly where the line is s I don't cross it by accident, but I'm feeling better about things now.

And real porn/persons aren't allowed on LC anyways.

So what was the rule change? Even if I'm not P4 it would be nice to know what I'm working up to, especially so I know whether it's worth working up to it or just not striving for it intentionally.

Prior to this change, only adult SFW non realistic AI was allowed after the purge, the only thing that's left from that is the "no realistic", but for full permited stuff you need to be able to see P4.

Who knows. But that has effectively crippled Lewd. It's not the same anymore, though I try to post on threads, it is
a whole lot less than I used to. Things like posting on the Lurker hangout and going back and forth with Shawn
posting cat pics is dead and gone. The last fun time I can remember here was probably reaching page 7,000
me and Underlord went back and forth about coins and it was cracking everybody up, we did this for multiple
pages.

Right now I don't think they know what to do with the 7,000 growing page of Lurker hangout, the original idea
was to stick it in P4 and then slowly delete all the AI images on it and then stick it back in the non-P4 section.

Staff needs to pick 1. Lurker Hideout spot 2. Lurker Hangout.

And put one in P4 and leave the other for everybody in the non-P4 section.

Now as soon as I say that, a member of staff [Mod] will chime in and say; well duh that is what we are doing
Stephanie, did you not notice that we have Lurker hangout in P4 and and Lurker Hideout spot in non-P4 section.

Then I say well okay then, I'm gonna post some AI art on Lurker hangout, then I will get a reply of you better not
post AI on Lurker hangout because we are cleansing it and putting it back in the non-P4 section.
Then you say well which is it? It can't be both? Then you'll get told sorry we can't talk about private conversations
that happen among staff in discord meetings.

I can guess it's probably because people were abusing the line in some gray area, so a hard and fast rule needed to be made to stop a trend that would have caused more problems for the site. Is my guess correct? It just seems odd from the perspective of a newcomer. But this is the internet. If people can ruin things, they often will ruin things.

I wasn't involved in the decision, but I've seen a lot of the discourse around AI art in the last year-ish (not on this site, but on the web in general) and I imagine what it boils down to is this: AI generated art is getting very realistic very fast. Everything on this site we accept as OK because it's all fake, so no harm is being caused by it / no harm comes from creating it. Obviously, anything that is real is very much not fucking okay.

So, what about AI that looks real? Alright, you can probably argue that it's not harmful (although even that is dubious because the AI had to be trained on something), but the problem comes when you allow stuff that is fake but looks real, because then bad actors can start passing off stuff that is real as "oh no it's just AI gen don't worry about it". That is the situation everyone should be striving to avoid. There should never be any confusion about whether or not something is real, because the moment you allow something that might be there is every chance the kind of people we don't like will take advantage of that little loophole. Can't let that door crack open, not even a sliver.

All that in mind, I totally understand the scorched earth and then tone it down approach of the mods, that's not the kind of thing you can gradually increase restrictions on to find the right spot, you gotta take it all the way to fuck no and then tone it back to what you'll allow.
