Good morning and happy Fuck-It Friday.

Anyone got anything cool planned for this weekend? I think I might go for a cycle along the coast since the weather is finally supposed to be a bit more bearable :D

Nothing as exciting as that aha. Housework, dog walks, and the latest (maybe 5/6th) Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough :')

you are aware that you can buy a/c's ?
There's a major difference between a place where it's been hot for so long that the infrastructure is built around it, and somewhere where the heat is so unusual that no one was prepared for it. I'm in the former (hence my "laughs in dry heat" joke. At least you can sweat in a dry heat, high humidity keeps it from evaporating which sounds like straight up torture) and they sound like they are in Europe, which is firmly in the latter.

Good morning people.
Anyone else losing/lost interest in ANVs?

So tired of the long development periods (mfs acting like they are making GTA) and the lack loli/shota/hebe content...
For that reason, I don't play anything that isn't at least 1.0. It's a waste of time. I just put it on my to-play list and check back a year later.

But then you got devs who have different versioning conventions and1.0 is the very start of development.

Nice, I had a blast playing cyberpunk. I've only done one full playthough so far, and I went with a stealthy netrunner build.

I did buy the DLC a while back so I'll have to give that it a shot once I've got some time, maybe I'll try going melee this time.

What's been your favourite playstyle thus far, since you've played so much?

So far my favourite has been stealth netrunner builds, extremely satisfying wiping out a ton of enemies with firing a gun nor being detected. Most of my runs have used slight variations on the build.

Currently on another stealth build, but without using any hacking at all. Quite a different experience when you can't just shut off cameras and turrets!

Current Humidity Here Outside = 89%
we are lucky today, after the storms yesterday its only 41C out there lol

Well, I'm not literally saying 1.0, I mean games that are already complete and the rest are just bug fixes or additional content, like LonaRPG.

yes, the 1.0 end is messed up as " 1 " is the start irl

1.0 is, as of today, a complete version with possible additional patches. It means "The game passed alpha and beta phase, now it's playable." At least that's what I'm seeing in games from the last at least 10 years, with few exceptions.

Something about stealthing around just feels so satisfying in cyberpunk (wish there was a way to abreviate this), and night city feels really fleshed out and fun to explore.

The mods that add a bunch of clothes and hairstyles are also great because I like to spend a lot of time customising my character's appearance, but I wish the game didn't make my PC sound like a jet engine.

Aight, gonna say this once and that's it.

Not all devs have their sweet time developing games, they're having some IRL stuff to handle too. Not all devs are hotshots and have a dedicated team working on titles, graphics, script, writing etc. And don't tell me about coding, more complex the story is, more complex is the code running under the hood.

Not only that, pressures from payment solutions (Vishit and BastardCard) and ooga booga governments (like the United Pissdom) are very, very scared at them nude pixels so they swinging heavily banning safe to consume materials and even artist themselves because some idiot thought that this is too problematic and not other serious topics (such as THE FUCKING WEATHER)

jfc that sounds terrible. We've had a bunch of rain the last few days and the humidity and temperature have finally decreased enough to leave the windows open. I'm wishing you the best, sibling!

Then there are devs like YandereDev or HentaiWriter that are lazy as fuck and they stretch development as much as possible so they can continue milking people.

I'm going to tell you a little story, I was once hired to develop a fighting video game, simple, politically themed, at that time I didn't have much idea about video game development since my specialty is web development.

I offered to do it in Unity because it was the only engine I knew, it took me literally ONE WEEK to finish the game, functional mechanics, a scenario, character designs, menus, give me one more week and I would make you an options menu with language selection and volume and resolution controls, it was so extremely stupid that I was surprised by the ease with which I managed to make a fully functional game of that style. This was when I started thinking "I'm either a genius or most developers are just lazy", and I'm not the kind of person who likes to stick with the most egocentric idea.

On another occasion, I formed a translation group for Doki Doki Literature Club mods, I took the role of leader and I had to touch code many times, I learned how Ren'py worked at the time thanks to it and I realized that 95% of developers who use Ren'py DO NOT EVEN use 50% of what that software is capable of, to the point where if I started to implement improvements in the mods, my team's translations were going to end up being mods of mods.

My field is not video games, I am a fullstack developer who works with websites, and I personally believed that video games would be something much more complicated. Of course I know that there are more complex developments than what I described here, but that is no excuse for taking 5 years to make a game that lasts 5 hours, there is literally no excuse for that.

Inb4: "Then why don't you make your own games?", as I said, my area is web development and I already make a living from that, I have no reason to leave my area of specialty.

Feel bad for all the animals that primarily stay outside. Can't even leave my own pets outside for long.
Over the past few days the concrete was so hot that I had to carry my dog over to some grass just so he could take a leak, and I left out some water in a shallow bowl for the bees near my house so that they could cool off too.
