I no longer watch anime...more on manga and manwha since moving pictures are too slow for me....
Also stopped reading LNs since I hate translations....so Manga and Manwha generally has better translations since they just translate smaller phrases.
I wonder if Japan will continue to hold such dominance in Cartoon and Comic global market share....or the west will ever get their shit together.
Or other countries like Korea or China also somehow gain more market share in the space...

Heard, that India is going big in the anime and manga market.
The west will probably just release one hit wonders if even that. In my opinion the cultural shift to polyethnics gives more ideas in general, but less interrelation in media and it's representation.

does japan really dominate? i feel like marvel, dc and disney (i guess marvel again) still have way wider appeal and make way more money than even the most successful anime/manga studios

They have a bigger market share through worldwide agressive marketing and the general "consense" of many countries to "westernize", while Japans culture and media is kinda shunned and looked down here in the west and just fills a quite small (but growing) niche.

Did I say something weird or why do I get the silent pig sleaze treatment?

I think I really got into anime-anime with like Zero no Tsukaima or Rosario+Vampire?

Best food in the world on your opinion?

Noodles. All kinds.

Hear me out. BANANAS.
I'm not talking about flavours, but banana is the best all around food. It's cheap, easy to eat (grab, peel, eat), healthy, gives good amount of energy, tastes good.

My family nicknamed me “monkey” as a kid because I ate so many bananas that I basically gaslit myself into liking them. And I still do.

What’s your top 5 manga/manhwa of all time, good sir? Any manga/manhwa you’re currently following?

Here is mine:

Manga I'm currently following:
1) Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
2) Onepunch-Man (One)
3) Bug Ego
4) Karate Survival in Another World
5) Versus
6) Under Ninja

For fellow comic fans/nerds: any recommendations? I’m really into brutal, gory, ultra-violent manga, stuff like Crossed and Sin City.

I'm still torn apart about Gantz, hopefully the manga is way better than the anime.

Why, does it have to do with that infamous last arc?

No, the anime feels so inconsistent, artificial slow and have to leave things out, that are important to the story. The visuals and theme are great, but the implentation lacks. I hope by reading the manga (somewhere in a far future), I will be suprised in a better way.

great question, i'll chip in with my top manga:
1. 21st century boys
2. bokurano (super depressing, do not read if you're not having a good time)
3. vinland saga
4. kingdom
5. steel ball run

Great taste! I haven’t read Bokurano or Steel Ball Run yet, but I’ve heard amazing things about them.

Wasn't asked but let me give mine :3

Ouran High School Host Club
Pluto
Ghost in the Shell
My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness
Kaguya-sama: Love is War

No order cause I'm indecisive
(Also just started 20th Century Boys and it's shaping up to go in my list as well :3)

21st century boys

I read a lot of Naoki Urasawa’s manga back when I was in my elitist phase, binging everyone’s “top 50” lists. I don’t remember much of them, though I vaguely recall liking Monster decently.

Now, I just read what I like. Who cares if it’s considered “mid”? To me, it’s diamond in the rough.

I'm not sure about any "Top something list". Such lists feel like the top rated stuff on amazon. It's just off.

You don’t get FOMO? That feeling of missing out? Yeah, top-rated stuff can be overrated, but most of it is ranked high for a reason.

Unless we’re talking about top-rated apps on Google Play. I have no idea what makes them appealing. I don’t use Amazon, so maybe the feeling you get is the same.

I don't have fear in missing out. After all, if I chase this top 50 list, I will miss out another top 50 list.
It's not worth it. Sure I don't get most trends, viral stuff and it's context, but somehow I don't care enough. This would impede my slow roll approach in life.

Does anyone have social media or forum recommendations that have a sense of community like this site?

I use Twitter and Reddit, but I often don’t know what to say. Everyone’s already said it, and if I force a comment, it feels insincere.

Here, I can lurk or join the conversation, and there’s always something interesting to discuss. Discord kinda feels like this, but even in the general channels of many servers, the discussions don’t branch out or cover multiple topics like this forum does.

I don't really use social media, the most I have is a discord account but I mainly just use it to DM people :3 Definitely get what you mean with the sense of community being lost in a lot of social media <3
