I would argue that Farmers and other food production workers should be considered above most if not all others. Think about it if we all had to individually grow and produce our own food and drink sufficient to feed ourselves and our family then how much time would we have to do anything else like study medicine or economics or engineering or law. Food production is ultimately the bedrock foundation of our entire economy and trade system.

I mean just because it’s foundational doesn’t make it inherently more valuable. while we need food production workers, higher pay for more revolutionary fields tends to incentivize innovation rather than a stationary society. if we valued farmers more than scientists, engineers, etc. we wouldn’t have much incentive to innovate

They're fiercely protective of the dynastic/heirloom swords, but even just having one custom made (only 50K up to 500K, from a reputable Smith- is no guarantee you're leaving the country with it either...). The bureaucratic red tape that you have to go through cannot be cut with finest Katana.

Not quite this way. Only certain swords and armor and other very important items are under the protection of National Importance act. Most WW2 Katana are fine to export as long they dont have a maker name that is important to the country. As for modern makers, well, why not? If people in other countries want their Katana then its fine. The act is mostly, actually, entirely to preserve and protect the history of Japan and wht is left, like the Honjo Masamune. You can not put price on this sword. it was the Shoganate family history and yes, Masamune made it, so, it is something very important, and the family are trying to return it since WW2 when it was handed to the police station after surrender. Most 100 year or so swords are fine, just need to get the permit from your country if you need one.

A LOT of them were animated due to budget constraints and the fact the SFX were no where near believable enough to do the story justice. You had a lot more freedom with animation back then. A live action Robotech, even, would've been awful to watch and almost impossible to make into a movie- even with a Star Wars budget.
I remember "The Fog". An absolute classic.
