I prefer games with animations, but I treat that as an extra. I’ve played plenty of shitty games that had animations, and just as many good ones that didn’t.

I do tend to prefer animations but AI animations are really starting to grate on me. A lot of the AI animations will have weird facial animations, excessive movements that don't make sense or are unnecessary, some AI recreate the game models so the characters end up looking different, some will have weird post-processing, etc, etc. I'll take good still images over bad AI animations.

I prefer that games have animation, but there's still some non-animated games that include gorgeous artwork and/or voice acting

Animation. I feel the engagement is different. Rarely anything has a good enough story to animations make up for lack of imagination otherwise triggered by good writing.
