After almost two feet of snow and now the temps are sub-freezing in the single digits for the last week.
Gotta say I was surprised given the last five years were I lived never had a winter.

Yep, given the current pricing, most people should just wait. I'm hoping that prices come back down once production kicks up enough. I'm worried that the industry won't recover from this.

I heard somewhere that Nvidia have cut production of 50 series cards due to them increasing production of their AI chips and AMD don't have a contender to go against the 5090, can't really see prices coming down anytime soon unfortunately.

I also remember seeing an article/headline somewhere saying the same thing about Nvidia. Sucks a lot. I'm going to just have to keep riding out on my current build, though it's not that old and handles most things alright. Heavy duty VR stuff would be all that I'd pick up that might tax the system more, but that depends entirely on the new steam hardware and however that ends up.

Fuck that's shit, I've had a lenovo legion for like a year now and one of the fans is gone in it and it was overheating before that already, still need to get it replaced. Would recommend staying away from lenovo right now because of that.
Was looking at a 5090 2 weeks ago and a 5090 today, they've gone up in price by like 300 in that 2 week span alone. Closed the site the moment I saw those new prices and I'm giving up on getting this generation of GPU's

all of your profiles have enlightened me as to how barren mine is. i will have to give myself a "glow up" as i believe it is called, some time.
many corporations i am thinking will have a similar sentiment to the microsoft employee i quote. it is more money for them in every way and complete reliance on their systems. a subscription service for a computer maybe! it has always been the case that data centers got all the good tech first, but now it seems they are starting to get it exclusively.
we will have to wait and see, pray for the home computing market and all the women on your hard drive that would suddenly be without a home, or worse, a home on someone elses much bigger computer!

laptops seem to be some what behind on the RAMpocalypse prices but they are most certainly increasing similarly to all other computer hardware. it may indeed keep increasing or it might just crash........ at some point. it is hard to say but my two cents: i think it will be getting a lot worse before it gets better. many in this thread have mentioned NVIDIA are scaling back on graphic cards production like the 50 series and i believe i saw someone at microsoft or some such company mentioning how they would love to pivot to all of our computers being on the cloud. this may be bad news for us...... or for the computers, which may simply choose to die itself at the sight of the sheer amount of degenerate pornography we store on it.
