My "Gear Grinder" is adjacent but not quite the same - In my case it is when people comment on my post -- but do not give me a reaction of any kind. Kinda like taking my cousin to the prom (again) All the work -- none of the reward I mean would it be all that difficult to appreciate my efforts and click "like" ?

God I love old cartoons. Just how they just look at the camera to the parents in the audience as they do something that appears lewd before it's revealed it's just a balloon or some shit.

I'm sure it is a decent game but it feels to me that many new games try to be modern and fancy at any cost. Implementing new graphics technologies which don't make it look better but eats up performance... and while focusing on the new stuff, they forget optimization and properly using what worked before...

Thats why I stick mostly to the indie scene nowadays. I just cant afford to keep upgrading my system to keep up with the absurd "improvements" AAA studios keep pushing. I dont give a fuck about RTX or whatever other fancy shit games have nowadays. I just want the gameplay to be fun.

RTX is a huge issue. It's a fun technology but currently barely worth the compute cost. But I'd prefer that hype over the current AI one...

I get a lot of people like AI on these forums, but holy fuck does it just look like slop to me. AI is like bad CGI, it just sticks out like a sore thumb whenever I see it being used.

Imo AI is overused everywhere. Companies just pump the AI juice in everything. No matter if it provides any value. Generative AI is an whole other can of worms... while it allows people with no graphics skills to pump out content, it gets way too much. It's everywhere and it's annoying, especially when not labeled. Youtube is just flooded with slop now...

I'm fine with people enjoying it, but I can't see it anymore.

using AI for backgrounds or dialogs is fine to me but dont make it the whole focus of whatever youre making
