"conducted extensive research"

Sure... she rubbed her pearl to all those games and then, she demonizes everything pornographic.

Oh, "research", is that what they're calling it?

Eastern national porn bans and censorship are at the behest of western interests?

Even if we are talking recently, Stellar Blade was published by Sony with very limited censorship. Maybe you can single out some western countries for draconian censorship laws, like Germany, but saying that the west is worse than the east in terms of censorship is disingenuous.
I don't think its disingenuous I just think its incentive and disincentive. Asian countries are disincentivized by Western countries *US* acting like puritanical retards and because they rule the current financial order, bend the knee. Another case is the UN trying to ban lolicon. Can't believe I'm defending that shit.

I think you are very misinformed on just how prevalent censorship is in the East, and while some part of it is international influence, most of it is very much in house. They just don't censor the same things as in the west which makes them seem less puritanical. For example, they might not censor lolicon fictional content, but they will censor any depiction of a woman's vagina, fictional or not. It is the same dumb virtue signalling side of the censorship coin.

Well, that's really just "adult games shouldn't be sold" at the end of the day.

If you sold them on a separate, new platform, call it "LewdGames" or maybe "Lewd Corner of Games", and that site gets big enough because it sells enough games - you think they wouldn't come for it, too?
They came for Patreon and the like, then steam, now itch.io.

Make a new site that focuses exclusively on the sale of lewd games, and you have the site that'll be hit and shut down next.
This road leads only to one place: Lewd games cannot be sold. Period.

And once those games are gone? Gore & Violence will be next.
They didn't start with NSFW games. They started with Detroit Become Human and failed.
Now they've started again at the weakest link and try to establish precedent and gain more support from people that want to engage in censorship & thought-control.
They'll work their way back to Detroit Become Human in time.

And after the games? Videos and movies, like Game of Thrones. And then music and images. And before long, there'll be nothing left but a wasteland.

When censorship groups have a huge success, they don't call it a day and stop. They're galvanized into more daring and broader actions and look for the next target of their ideological campaigns.
This war has already begun: massive censorship by Karens and payment processors. This is a very serious issue, an international problem initiated by American companies attacking private services through threats of economic restrictions. Just reading this should give you an idea of the seriousness of this and the repercussions it will have.
The worst part is that all they had to do was write in big letters "WE HAVE DELETED GAMES WITH VIOLENT SEXUAL THEMES" and the idiots happily swallowed it, while behind their backs they now can decide what we can and can't buy with our money... and yet there are still people who applaud it.
The Itch.io thing is terrible; many developers lost their jobs, their efforts were sent to hell, all because someone wasn't mature enough to think "I don't like this... I'll ignore it," and instead they sought to screw everyone who didn't align with their thoughts by giving permission to corporations with a monopoly to control private companies.

And yet, what bothers me the most... is that there are people who don't realize this, who don't realize what's happening and the seriousness, of everything it entails, they are those idiots who were left with "VIOLENT SEX GAMES ERASED" and went home satisfied, thinking they had won something, when all that was achieved was to knock down the first domino on the road to a dystopia where big companies determine what, how and where you can spend your money.

Then there are the damned defeatists who prefer to watch everything go down the drain without even trying to fight for their rights. I'll even leave the link to the petition for them, so they can at least have the minimum decency to make the enormous effort to sign and contribute their grain of sand to this fight that could end up permanently redefining the virtual market.

Here you go.

This is already a thing i could not find the image dam it but the new gladiator movie that came out recently had warning's on the screen about drugs/booze and they never showed a actual death on screen.

I was hard to watch when a actor took a drink then it popped up about alcohol stats the dos and dont's
That's not going to work.
There won't be a new provider, because any new provider would face the same pressure and would be less able to push against it.
And crypto will never become a stable payment option.

There's just one way to stop that and it's to stand up now. Anything else, and things are going to get worse, not better. Waiting is the worst thing you can do.

I can see crypto being labeled the cartel payment option then get shutdown or some BS
They took down my game "The Introvert Witch", it was already shadowbanned by them to begin with. To my followers on Itchio, I've made another post to them to tell them to support alternatives. Which I have done several times already to support LewdCorner. Sankaku made an article on it already.

Yeah i seen alot of posting on other sites were said game is postponed or cancelled now do too this recent purge one game moonithbay purged from steam and itch like dam its still on other sites though.

The question becomes where should/could they be sold and through which payment processor that could be trusted and is simple to use?
Good question? It was once a hobby with a cult following until Patron and other sites made it a full time job.

Gone was the cult following and hobby, hello thousands now buying them.

The limelight and the popularity doomed them. They became an easy target for prudes.

Just how to view most porn in western counties you need to show an online ID now. 🤷‍♂️

If you live in America, there's this new U.S. bill called the "Fair Access to Banking Act, H.R.987 in the House, S.410 in the Senate".
In it, it would be illegal for any financial service provider to prohibit or inhibit any legal transaction.
Here's the link:
first line says

"This bill places restrictions on certain banks, credit unions, and payment card networks if they refuse to do business with a person who complies with the law. "

now all you need to do is read every law & than comment again.

with this, more games are going to be abandoned, if they are prohibited from publishing their games on every page, who will want to develop more games?

I remember the media outrage about the "extreme" nudity in the mASS Effect games. It

I'd argue it was already the case. Plenty of games self-censor to avoid any controversy whatsoever, and to not get that 18+ rating.
You're right, I remember the FOX news outrage at sex scenes being in the game.

I agree that it's "already the case" - Ready or Not censored due to Consoles, other games try to meet certain Ratings in order to be available to a bigger market.
But that's self-censorship to increase profitability by target audience size. Not being unable to sell at all.
Self-censorship isn't really a boolean that's either on of off, it comes in degrees.
I think that if this course is maintained, we'll see completely unprecedented levels of self-censorship, not only in gaming but in general.

There's a difference between "we might have a smaller audience, and not sell as many copies" and "we cannot sell at all and will go bankrupt".
Companies will cast ahead - and alter their course not based on what is but based on what they believe will be years in the future.
No one wants to do a 200m game or movie and then not be able to sell.
We're entering a completely different magnitude of censorship and self-censorship, where the companies will try to preempt the potential self-censorship rather than the one that currently exists. It's completely bonkers.

It is not "porn" but what they deemed adult material that is the law and what so many ignore they can say a gun website is adult that booksite is adult or steam is a gateway to adult content.

In the uk a law like the one you mentioned happened so when you go on the evil playstaion/xbox network were pervert's are created and mass shooters you need to do a face scan and or input a govt id.

Grand theft auto even in 2008 was not allowed airplanes when using new york as a background gta 3 was gutted asap after 9./11 but even gta iv was getting backlash for the beta having planes.

I remember when MS flight sim got into shit because terrorist used the game to train for flying planes its a big reason as why new titles need internet 24/7 now for drm and make sure you wont be after the usa.

All games here are about 18+ Land lords and their 18+ tenants. Master and pupil in 1 case. What seems to be the issue?!

I heard that Americans should call their senators about that bill and why it's illegal for any financial service provider to remove NSFW games and other porn stuff without the creators' consent.

It appears that Itch is removing adult games:
First it was Steam, now Itch, next LewdCorner :p

Edit:
It has now been confirmed that they are removing adult (NSFW) content:
Strange as Steam has a lot of NSFW games in their store at the moment and a lot in news for development. It is behind a adult safety comprovment however but I think that has always been so. But yes this whole Itch is a mess especially for backers in there or people that have bought the games from the platform as they would receive new updates and such.

There are some initiatives to create new payment processors such as EU's EPI but it's an uphill fight up Mount Everest without gear while dodging rocks being thrown at you. Not only do you need to prove to banks and service providers worldwide that you are trustworthy and secure but you're also effectively going up against the duopoly that is Visa/MasterCard and they wouldn't stay quiet at anyone even trying to muscle on their turf.
As a mastercard user it is a pain to do most paynments or endorsements. When I and people like me can it is nice that most paynments for such institutions come with an alias "you dont want to have that type of information in your credit card register", but that itself creates red flags or pose to question by banks and such entities as it appears you are conducting paynments for illegal activities or bogus companies. I can accept the US actions but it still affects the rest of us.

KOFI is still around but yeah its getting harder and harder

Ai art was one but mostly report's and not having id's for the characters in the game sense they looked young.

You do not even half to go too deep with these new rules cyberpunk/bulders gate 3 witcher 3 bioware pre 2020 games the barbarian conan games basically games that have nude avatars are/will be targeted i just was reading that the house party team might have gotten a email about there game so expect censor patches soon.

I will do what i can(Aka vote for those that oppose censorship and corpo control)
But i doubt much will come of it.
To many politicians are too afraid to accauly stand up to evil.

For those bringing it up, the Fair Access to Banking Act will not help here. It applies to political reasons for denying transactions and is in regards to denying or cancelling services to customers,

Whether or not it would be applicable in the case of a payment service choosing not to work with a platform as a whole is more of a gray area.

It was written and proposed in reaction to these companies refusing to allow transactions with firearms industries, fossil fuels, private prisons, etc, and would need to be added to in order to ensure proper consumer rights protections. Otherwise it's purely a law to benefit major corporations.

The non smol version of my game that I put over there was sniped for incest, that was the only place I've managed to get a few payments on since starting this whole dev thing and now it's gone.
The worst part is that I still had $100 I had gotten from a co-op bundle sale with some other devs and there's a high chance that they won't let me withdraw it.

Of course it is, this is yet another example of why I say that America is one big unethical Mega Corp disguising itself as a first world country.

Honestly, even if that Free Access to Banking Bill, is/were a consumer rights bill, I'd honestly expect the proccessors to loophole it, and need to get sued in court for it to stick.
