Incest Games Banned on Steam

Well there's a big surprise lol, saw that coming from a mile away

I saw it, and it seems to me we're witnessing the definitive decline of the video game industry.

To make a long story short, in case anyone hasn't heard, many games with NSFW content (mainly those containing incest) have been removed from Steam because they changed their policies.
This policy change isn't Steam's doing; they're being forced to do this. The ones forcing them are the group that was messing around before, the payment processing systems (VISA, MasterCard, PayPal, etc.) that don't want their services linked to that type of content.

They've done this before, pressuring Patreon, OnlyFans, and probably other sites I don't even know about. Forcing the aforementioned to make their policies against NSFW content more stringent, primarily seeking to completely eliminate said content.

This is a serious problem because it means that payment processors decide what you can and can't consume. If they don't like something, they can threaten to remove their services, forcing the removal of the content.
No company should have that power, and given what's happening with STOP KILLING GAMES (I hope the European users here have already signed), I don't think it'll be long before an uprising against these entities begins.
What they do goes beyond censorship; it's economic repression. As I said, they decide what you consume, and if the products don't align with their ideals, then they will be canceled.

Its only a matter of time before they start pushing hard at gay / lesbian things as well. Stuff like what BG3 has.

The big companies will still get away with it, but its going to completely kill smaller studios who cannot afford to not put there shit on steam.

I agree, it's not about whether you like incest games on Steam, it's about where they're going to draw the line. I have a hard time thinking that this is going to be the only such announcement. And to specify, I don't buy porn games on Steam, but some people do. It's a hit to the developers who are now wondering if there is anywhere else they might need to go to sell their wares.

I mean could be a good time for places like Nutaku to fill the gap. But unfortunately they only realy take games that they can farm for revenue with boosters and and stuff. More freemium style games on there. Some decent ones if you like pvp stuff.

Yea, clearly the incest was going too far. Only wholesome games left now!

Honestly I don't think STEAM is the right place for NSFW games or anything related to that.
On one hand, personally, I agree. I think that Steam has too broad of an audience for a lot of the extremely niche NSFW games that [were] on it.

But the more libertarian side of me also says "Steam has age-gates for a reason, and if you're going to ban some but not all, you either ban all or you ban none." Valve is a monolith. They could actually probably make their own, or co-create a, payment processor and tell Visa and all those others that are financially bullying them into this decision to go fuck themselves. I'll buy Steamcoin if I want to buy a game. Fuck it. Payment processors should not have the power to dictate what people do with their own money. Their job is to facilitate transactions, not determine them.

Women's Forum Australia (WFA) is a conservative think tank established in 2005 with the aim of influencing research and policy-related work to affect the social, economic, health of Australian women. It has also been described as focusing on "anti-trans campaigning" and having "links to far-right politics", with members campaigning against abortion access, transgender rights, and promoting conspiracy theories around Wi-Fi.
The group has been characterised as "pro life", and has similarly been involved in matters relating to IVF
In 2023, WFA led a campaign against Big W's stocking of Welcome to Sex, a sex education book aimed at adolescents. In response to abuse of staff members, Big W removed the book from its physical stores while continuing to sell it on their website.
In 2014,[12] Collective Shout protested the video game Grand Theft Auto V ("GTA V").[13]: 141–142  The game was banned from Target and Kmart retail chains in Australia that year.[14]
In 2017, Reist wrote in ABC's Religion & Ethics column to criticize the adult erotica series Fifty Shades.[16] Collective Shout stated: "This is not entertainment. This is not sexy. This results in serious harm to women and in the worst case scenario, murder."
They have actively campaigned against women's rights and free media for years under the guise of protecting women and children. All of this is straight from wikipedia. They also don't like certain store selling skirts because it sexualises women and young girls which is quite telling because normal people don't look at a child's legs and think that's sexual, and that women somehow shouldn't be allowed to wear certain clothing they disapprove of

Not really Steams fault but once again shows how much power the payment processors or creditors have instead.

It's the same tactic that ruined most crowdfunding sites for porn as well.

Still has Crusader Kings 2 and 3.....but yeah the Card censorship bent Gaben.

OK so I have some opinions about this.
of course the money vendors shouldn't control anything, but some things don't really belong on steam. I own a few NSFW games on steam, and I click the option to make those games private. So nobody even knows you play em.

I mean could be a good time for places like Nutaku to fill the gap. But unfortunately they only realy take games that they can farm for revenue with boosters and and stuff. More freemium style games on there. Some decent ones if you like pvp stuff.

I actually have some nutaku games downloaded. yes most, if not all are some form of money trap. Every one of nutaku games have some form of money taking gimmick. But a few of them are not bad, and I won't spend any money in those either. I checked it out, and a lot of those games will want like 3000 nut coins for a chest that has just a few items. totally not worth it, as 3000 coins is like $30. have no clue why anyone would pay for adult games

Games with furry content will be next, seeing as that is how these payment processors went with patreon and fansly. They start with the easy ones like rape and sholi, because it's "reasonable" to not "promote" these things. Then it goes things like hypnosis and incest, because "isn't that just rape and grooming under different names?" Then furry because "that's promoting bestiality." They're bullies, and bullies don't stop because you gave in.

- real horseshoe theory:ROFLMAO:

Been saying a long time bad idea to put adult games on Steam. Already they had to look like at least age 30 and no mention of school whatsoever. Only a matter of time before they ban adult games completely.

Patreon and Paypal banned many accounts for having incest in their games... this is not new. Was only a matter of time before Steam did also. Even games that let you set up relations seem to be getting the boot.
