Look, for the people who don't like "remasters", I know they can be annoying for the player, but this will be worth it for myself.. and for you in the long run when the quality of the renders will look way better than a year ago.
Chapters will be longer than in the original, overall it will look nice.. if not, then I can just put this on-hold in the meantime, and go back to the original game and finish that one first?
As someone who has seen many remasters of something unfinished come and go as abandoned stuff. Which by the way I am not accusing you of here, but seeing the same wordings and excuses being used for remasters is what makes it the problem.
It put's people in the either believe or don't believe camp and given how many times people have been burned it usually goes in the don't believe or benefit of the doubt category, which end up cutting funds which ends up leading to abandoning.
Also another thing with remasters/remakes with these games is the exact same pacing but with always the promise of better quality and etc. The previous version took around a year to have it's amount of content. And if the remaster or rework is going to take another year to get not only to the same point with the exact same plot and the exact same scenes just higher quality or a few extra animations added in... is it really a remaster at that point ? these are the questions that never get answered and that get people actually raising a stink about it.
You are the dev, you make the game you want to make the story you want to tell the way you want to tell it, that is something you have to stick to if you want to keep yourself motivated.
But at least also provide an idea of what is going to be different to at least still down the doubts that this raises.
For example, are we getting animated scenes ? are there going to be new characters ? are there going to be redesigns ? are there going to be added in extra scenes and more content and how fast will it catch up to the current events of its previous iterations ?
Since this is a remake and mostly the story is the same and if the characters are not going to be changed much or most will stay the same but will get made in a bit of higher quality, will that mean that on per release we will get the same amount of content as previous updates or will there be like 1 update but enough content to match up 2 or 3 updates from the previous work ? these are things no one tells anyone.
A good example I can give is the Family Faring game as an example, they remade that game but all it really changed was the character models their size and some minor changes overall and in general yet it took them almost same amount of time to catch up on previous version of the game, almost everything was exact or identical. Yet the progress of release and what was offered was pretty much in line of the previous iteration and not much changing. That raises a lot of questions in and of itself. But the moment it get's mentioned or pointed out, Dev's get defensive and all up in their ego instead of explaining and giving a proper reasoning as to why that is the case, which in turn creates distrust.
So my point here is, you saying it will be worth it for yourself, that is great but saying for us in the long run that quality of renders will look better than a year ago ? I could just ask at that point why not just continue and raise the quality with the next update ? because not only when new people come to it see your progress as the game continues but also you get to continue the story without the need to go back. If all this is going to be just raising quality in renders but everything else is going to be the same or only very very small changes being made but it will take a whole year to catch up to the current content, than for majority of the people that just is not worth it and in turn what will happen ? most people won't interact or as you say put it on hold and wait for the catch up to happen and when they come back a year later, they are going to be hit with the same tag that is majority of the case, abandoned. That is what people mostly fear and or get annoyed by. Again not saying this is going to be the case for you and neither am I accusing you off this but I do want you to understand where most people come from when it comes about these type of reworks/remakes/remasters.
