A new important update has been posted covering the Donation Rewards bug, the reset of incorrect Donation and Platinum credits, the upcoming reclaim system for previous tracked donations, and the new Vault freeze/maintenance behavior. Burnout Sucks. What Do You Do About It?

So, what about you? Do you have a go-to way to reset, or are you in the same “burnout limbo” boat as me? Let’s hear it—whether it’s legit advice, weird hacks, or just relatable rants.
Let’s figure this out together because honestly, I’m tired of feeling tired.

I´m SO glad, a thrad like this exists.

Sorry if it rubs some people wrong, but I´ll use this here to answer, but also to rant myself a bit, if that´s ok.

As someone who had a burnout (diagnosed) multiple times in the last 12 years, here are a few do´s and dont´s I learned:

- find a new hobby that "pulls your ass out of the fire" so to speak. That can be anything, as long as it is something totally new for you and can hold your attention for more than 5 minutes a day.

- go outside. Even if don´t find the energy to do something "meaningless" like taking a walk, find something, that forces you to go out. Shopping for groceries, shopping in general, anything. Even if it is only 30
minutes, but your brain and your psyche need the added oxigen and sunlight.

- talk to friends and be OPEN about it. There is no need to keep your metal state a secret and it can do more harm than you think in the long run.

- Don NOT, and I repeat do NOT fall into a cycle of procrastination. Make a to-do-list if you need it, plan your day with a loved one or do wahtever your feel like doing but once you are in a cycle of "doing nothing
to get better because you were stressed out", it´s one HELL of a journey to get out of it. Believe me, I needed EXTENDED therapie twice to do it beccause I was stupid.

If someone want to add to this list, feel free. Due to my own experiences, I know a lot of tricks and gadgets but I´m only human of course, so I don´t know everything.
I hope this helps at least a few of you.

I would not know I have been burned out for years every once in a while, I get the passion back, but it rarely sticks around for more than one render.

When I get burned out, I just hope I can get back into the swing of things soon. I have never had a good or reliable system to get out of a slump.

Make connections - old and new.
Learn a new skill - the more obscure the better.

Challenging the mind with some thing it's not used to can be a good distraction from the mundane repetition of life.

Know and understand you are not alone in this and we are all here to help. :D

Personally, when I find myself in the state you’re describing and I have enough perspective to realize it, I’ve noticed that listening to intellectual film critique podcasts helps me.

I feel like my state is caused by overthinking, and hearing people obsess over details or intellectually masturbate about a movie somehow restores my faith in humanity.

Try easing into low dose nicotine patches for a spell . It can sometimes break a fog. One hour first day, two hours second day… up to Steve hours, put on first thing in the morning , so they are removed seven hours before bed. do it for a week then ease off it by counting down the hours (two week schedule 1 through 7 , then 7 through 1 - fourteen pack patches) .

Don’t do it with gum as this associates an action with “ the hit” whereas patches are gradual. It is the smoke particles, tar , arsenic and other chems in tobacco that is bad for your health…. Nicotine is addictive tho , so avoid gums and sprays.

Anxiety and an almost nervous breakdown was how I was caught in nicotine addiction. Wish I could go back in time to stop that.

There's something to be said for having a long term goal irl. Like something you're buliding towards in small steps which goes beyond the day to day. That could be fitness, or getting better at a skill, or litterally building something crafty. In addition to community find a fulfilling project.

it sounds cliche, but try to change your routine, eat better, do some exercises and get a good night's sleep, it helps a lot

I think it's not for all, but I usually just go watch anime and it goes away after a couple of days.

Changing diet or taking vitamin supplements can help, also catching up with friends or family and even talking to them about it. Trying out something new, even something simple like baking simple recipes or cooking dinner can help get you back into the swing of things.

As people have already stated though, don't let yourself slip into moping around and doing nothing. Always try to be at least a little productive each day, and if you find yourself slacking off one day, just try and get yourself back up on the horse the next day, don't push yourself to work twice as hard to overcompensate for the lax period or chances are you'll end up burning out again.

So, I’ve been feeling done lately. Like, completely fried—no energy, no motivation, just staring at the wall and questioning my life choices every time I log in to a site and just stare blankly on why I am here.
I figured I’d throw this out here because I know I’m not the only one who deals with it. How do you handle burnout?

I’ve tried a few things Like just going outside, binging anime (just found out that I love rom com oddly enough), hell even working out.
But honestly, Half the time, nothing works, and I just quit halfway.

Some times I just take a different direction. By trade I'm a chef, got burned out and went to marketing. Wasn't a fan but loved the people, but nah not for me. Tryed baking and found a love for cooking again. Boom.cooking but difforent and helped reignite

Forgot this thread existed
Last I posted here was last January, this March/April I was home for 3 weeks because of burnout and still struggling to keep my energy up. I'm at least back up to ~90% at work, I feel, so I'm taking it easy and plan a long weekend once a month at least :giggle:, doing wonders. The summer months should be slightly less work, so I hope I can gain some more improvement then. 🤞
