Not really, depends on how long the child has known the adult. If they were raised from a very young age by the adult then yes it is still incest. If they met when the the child was 10 or older then no it is not incest.

If it is a genuine step relationship where they are still sibling close then it can count and even be quite intersting. But many times it's half-assed in one way or another. Throwing random people together who just happen to be step-related because of a recent marriage or such is just incest cosplay - there isn't any real connection or reason for it to be taboo at all. And adding 'step' to what was obviously a non-step relationship is just censorship, it's solely there so the platforms don't drop the dev and it can be easily patched out.

Just give the option to the player. Every game should give you the option to decide what the relationships are. Step, landlord stuff imediatly takes me out of the immersion. I usully stop playing if it goes that route.

Exactly, once the relationship is established it is in vain to keep saying step-something, it is not something that is normally said, the relationship is named directly or the person's name. At most it is used to clarify the type of relationship to a third party, but not when talking to your step-something.

LMAO don't get me started. I almost hate when regular incest constantly does the "brother / sister" thing lol... I find it more forgivable since I've definitely called my siblings "Brother" or "Sister" before but more in a "BROTHER: WE MUST EXTERMINATE THE XENOS" kinda way.

The best games usually leave the constant sibling reminder to the self-reflection (Which can be absolutely hotAF if done correctly...) like *I can't believe I'm about to creampie my actual sister* rather than a "BIG SIS, I'm Gonna CUM!" like....
