I wasn't either, but my focus is on the fact that diferent from other more terrenal needs like eating and breathing, the yearning for a loved one is something that could be considered more spiritual than mortal.

Regarding the fact that in that portrayal of heaven you wouldn't be able to feel any kind of sorrow whatsoever is more concerning than anything if you think about it and it's implications deeply enough.

Yes I understand what you say, Castell and I think it's important to point out that Catholic faith doesn't exclude animals in any way, they are God's creations, I copy directly from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
"Animals are God's creatures. He surrounds them with his providential care. By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory."
(i can give you the reference if you want to keep reading it yourself)

And I understand that it is difficult to think of a state without sorrow, sadness or pain. But that's the thing about heaven I think that without our mortal mindset it's real difficult to picture it. Think about it like this, as humans we can't view our existence without sleep, but in heaven we wont need sleeping. We won’t miss anything, because we’ll have everything we truly need to be happy forever.

I understand where are you coming from, but the Catholic faith doesn't try to take your love for pets away, in fact, it teaches that all true love comes from God and directs us back to him.

Id have to double check this because I'm no expert but our pets wont be "gone forever", the promise of heaven is that nothing good is lost.
I would say that if pets makes us fell fully happy we can trust in God that he wont let that love go to waste. God knows your heart better than you do.

Regarding the conversation, to be fair is not like the church have one single position set in stone in this kind of themes, it has changed it's stance multiple times across history, and it can change too depending on the place in the world you find yourself in, I remember priests saying that animals have no souls just a couple of years ago.

Frankly zombie series haven't been worth watching at least since the first couple of seasons of the Walking Dead. I sincerely doubt this is any different.

I'm a fan of both the games and the show, and in my opinion it's totally worth watching. And I say that as someone who is actually watched it and isn't just making assumptions.

Is Bella Ramsey as attractive as Ellie from the games? No, absolutely not. Is it a one for one recreation of the games? No, absolutely not.

And that certainly seems to rankle a very vocal.... (like VERY vocal to the point of OMG just shut the fuck up) minority on the internet, but it is a good show with a good plot and Ellie and Joel's developing parent / child relationship is a huge draw in the first season.
