Yes, that is true. I was always talking specifically about Catholic faith because it's the most consistent across the board and it's easy to check in different texts and books, although of course within the church there are many lines of thought, they are all unified by the Catechism.

I understand where are you coming from, but the Catholic faith doesn't try to take your love for pets away, in fact, it teaches that all true love comes from God and directs us back to him.

Yes I understand what you say, Castell and I think it's important to point out that Catholic faith doesn't exclude animals in any way, they are God's creations, I copy directly from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
"Animals are God's creatures. He surrounds them...
I didn't meant mortal as in sinful, my point was that in heaven (to the best of my knowledge) we wont feel any sorrow or longing and we will be full of joy, so there will be no yearning.
But of course missing a pet is a natural thing to feel.
