The best part of a lot of series, Manga, Manhwa, and Manhua, is that they're almost always based on a Novel. So, you get a Comic and a Book series, if you're lucky you also get an Animated version. Then, the Authors or Creators of each take liberties, and the plots can go different ways, some people like and hate this. Some want a very faithful adaption, and some like when they alter course, adding filler, plot, new characters, and often times new endings.
I'm pretty fond of the RPG System or Panel plot in a lot of Manhwa and Manhua. I really like a lot of the Korean Manhwa with a regression or second chances storyline, there are a lot, and I like most of them.
The Volcanic Age
Infinite Leveling: Murim
The Hero Returns
Kill the Hero
A Returners Magic Should be Special
The Legendary Spear Knight Returns
Mythic Item Obtained
Even the modern day stuff is decent, like Rescue System, which is about a Firefighter.

I haven't read much in a year or two, but I remember a few years back, I diverted mostly away from Japanese stuff to Korean and Chinese. It helped appreciate Japanese Manga more, when going back.
