This site is built and funded by the community — for the community.

It indeed is, strange that you actually know this, even though you seem to care so little about them.

Without your help, it doesn’t just slow down... it stops.

Oh, isn't that interesting? Noticed how the site fully slowed down, not only in game updates and uploads, but in user activity. I wonder who is at fault here?

Each donation fuels things you actually care about:

Does it? Really?
What is actually "fueled" by the money from the paywall to all the content various LC users offer for free?

But let's see if "I" care abut any of those in this AI assisted DM...

For example? Nothing on LC is unique or even special. It's missing so many features people asked for.

• Visual Design — Styled UI, icons, and a dark-mode obsession

An yet we lack some of the most basic QoL UI features, like having Links in a different font color. Instead we get constant theme/style changes and bling-bling nobody asked for.

• Content Curation — Handpicked, categorized, and consistently updated

By whom? The few Uploaders that stayed and working their ass of? All the AI Art made by LC Users for free you try to monetize? All the work the mods do voluntarily?
How does any of the donations have anything to do with this?

• Growth & Reach — Promo pushes, indexing upgrades, platform expansion

The only "Promo pushes" are for Donations. And the latest expansion? Another way to get money from the freely shared content of others.

• Experimental Projects — Concepts that test boundaries (and probably break a few)

Like all the untested stuff that gets thrown right in the middle of LC without telling or warning anybody about it, not even knowing if it will work or if anybody cares or wants it. The only boundary broken is the patience of the regular users.

• Fixes & Backend Upgrades — Broken addon patching, bug fixes, and performance upgrades

"Thank me for fixing the vase I broke!"

• Community Tools — Chat systems, vote events, and member-only perks

Chat that nobody uses and apparently even got removed, events that are solely driven by an overworked mod, member-only perks that do nothing but costing real money.

• Analytics & Automation — Rank syncing, system monitoring, and smarter backend processes

Huh, how did get this in here? Did the AI that helped write this added one of it's typical buzzword phrases?


And funny how the upkeep of the site is not even listed, which is the most important thing and what everybody actually cares for. Yeah I know, "It goes without saying"...

No, stop asking!

All those Donation DMs sound like a desperate salesman ringing at the doors of bored housewives, with a flyer so generic sounding, that by swapping out one or two words you could use it for anything else.
Do you even realize how many users call your behaviour "begging for money" and say you do all this just out of greed? This is what LC is nowadays know for.

Yes we all know LC costs money, a lot even. But the sheer amount of "GIVE ME YOUR MONEY" messages is insane.
In the beginning you were strictly against exchanging money for coins, and now? Advertising for donations everywhere.


It's laughable how much money you charge for the simplest things. Prestige 1 for $19 a month, $100 for permanent.
We got from voluntarily donations to how nowadays you sell things without even properly telling what it is about and what it includes.
All the rank descriptions are old. The last "update" only changed the price and... what a coincidence... shoved all the ranks that can be bought with Activity Coins onto the second page of the store.



So yeah, if you want people to donate, not only for false and broken promises which will only cause further distrust, then you have to prove, that LC is still worth it.

Spoiler: Don't be surprised to hear one of those from regular users. I already heard them several times.

I would say Avengers Thread but that would be heavily monitored probably edited and quite likely deleted for thought crimes.
They started with only a handful with the core team consisting of around 7 and eventually hundreds if not more. Those numbers may be unattainable however I know there are others out there who believe the same as we do I just don't recall their names from previous Forced Threads but they are out there watching.
And what it used to be err in some regards such as coins.

A mod gave me the following answer to my question as to why my thread was blocked and whether this has anything to do with the censorship of freedom of speech:

"so, this has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

we lock threads when we assume that it has very argument-heavy topics (unless it is a normal discussion thread)
in this thread the lock went in because:
1. high risk of conflict in the comments
2. the admin/dev teams have contributed their opinions and the admins themselves have now considered it solved/closed.

this is a normal way of dealing with threads on our site.

But that would also be in the site rules or the site's own “how we do stuff around here”.

This had nothing to do with asking for donation, we all know any site like LC needs money, but the sheer frequency and means this happend.
We got forced threads (popup that would interrupt everything, even delete currently written posts) and mass DMs every few days, sometimes twice the same day asking for donations.

Not to mention the huge new notification banners, that would re-appear, even if you closed it (because it got manually reactivated by the admin every day).

Also the constant changes that lead to nowhere and got removed again, or announced upcomming stuff, that never happend. And always with forced threads.
The whole site felt often like a huge mess because of that.


So no, this isn't about donations, but the whole spiel around it.

Reading and understanding are two different things, but they should definitely be linked together in order to understand the overall context.
You have passed the first part, but you should definitely work on the second part.

The thing that drives me crazy about these requests is the repeated "I have to get a new developer to create the Latest Updates page." How many developers did they go through, and each one needing more money. At some point you gotta cut losses and say "The site is what it is."

Sure, you have to spend money to make money, but it's not like this is ever going to grow much more than it is today and be profitable, and that's probably good.
The predominant kinks on this site aren't exactly favored in the zeitgeist. (Even though if you pay attention, Hollywood is so full of similarly minded people it makes you wonder.)

So let's keep the donation requests to basic site upkeep, stop the expansion efforts, give everyone a break. If the paid services aren't paying the bills now, I can't imagine adding a Latest Updates page for the 10th time or FURTHER DISRUPTION OF WHAT PEOPLE ARE USED TO will change that fact.

Come up with a budget for the next 12 months of site upkeep, factor in income from paid stuff like P5, then look at what's remaining, and post a 12 month forecast.
Be as transparent as you can be. "Monthly expenses are $X and include the following: $X1 - Web Hosting, ... $Xn list other costs."
Hopefully you know how much the site will need each month. Do ONE monthly fundraising event to hit the goal.
Provide tangible benefits to the larger donations, but appreciate all of them.
