I've heard a few people here mention Arknights, what's it like and do you recommend? I do enjoy a castle defense game and one of my friends loves them.

Why the heck I didn't pick it up earlier is beyond me...

Personally I think it pretty generous.
Rarely I open a 10 pull, without getting either a 5 star or a 6 star.
And with me saying this, I probably broke my luck... Damn...

(At least for me) between the last two 5 stars on FGO, I got around five 6 stars in Arknights (the equivalent to the 5 stars on FGO).
Also, this is more or less the pity system in Arknights:

If we are talking about the 6 stars, it depends:
For limited banners, you'll be able to exchange 300 of that banner currency (1 pull = 1 point) for the limited 6 star on the banner (or 200-300 for past 6* limited operators). But it's also true that on limited banners, there are usually some "free pulls"
For ANY banner (including limited banners), the 6 stars chance start at around 2%, and it increases slowly (I think it was 50% at around 35 pulls, and almost guaranteed at around 67 pulls), and it resets after you get one.

And this is more or less the amount of rolls/pulls you get monthly:

I think it would depend on if you can (borrowing operators probably) beat the 2 "standard" annihilation stages, to increase the weekly limit you get from them from 1200 to 1800.
If you can do it (sometimes one op borrowed character can do almost all the work), it will give around 20-22 pulls monthly I think? If not, around 15-18
(that, if you do those stages weekly, and complete the daily and weekly quests)

Well, as far as I saw - pretty decent?
Every new banner will have "first 10 pulls will guarantee 5* or higher" thing + you can use several systems in game (certificates) to actually "buy out" 6* units (quite hard, but reasonably possible).
+ as a new player you pretty much guarantee to get w 6*, one from first 10 newbie pulls gacha and another from 5-day log-in event you will get a selector where you can choose between 6.
Duplicates are NOT needed, the boost is seriously miniscule and negligible. You are more happy about getting certificates xD

I've seen some people complaining about how it lacks soul or low quality or whatever, but eventually it'll get harder and harder for people to tell it apart from hand drawn. I think part of it stems from some internal fear about the differences humans and machines. I think to them, the process of creation is part of what defines us as living, thinking, human creatures. There's probably also the fear of loss of something we've deeply appreciated for hundreds/thousands of years. As AI becomes more normalized and integrated in society, fewer and fewer people may choose to pursue learning art. In the future, it's possible that all the creative mediums we see are created by AI.

Arknights is super fun and I think is probably one of the best when it comes to strategic gameplay. People enjoy it so much, they will do themed clears like defenders only, felines only, etc just to limit themselves and add the extra challenge of clearing the stages. It's a single player experience (except for borrowing) so there's no competition ie you can play at your own pace. The game has fairly generous systems when it comes to the gacha, my favorite is that you can redeem older operators when they're on banner with something called yellow certificates without needing to gacha.

Well, I think creators will just combine with AI. Leaving tough and tedious stuff to AI while creating things they want. AI is just an instrument. Give an idiot AI and the things he will make with it will lack "soul", give AI in the hand of an artist or someone who just could never do art for whatever reason but have a vision and we will get beautiful (or horrendous, beauty is in the eye of the beholder) things.
It's like RPG Maker, without it making game development much easier, there would be much less awesome games we see today, because some made games with it, others just got experience that helped later.
Though since AI is much easier to use, there will be much more trash, that's a fact. And we have a great example of it. Rpg maker xD

Maybe I try I know FGO is archaic and could be much better but for a reason is the only mobile/gatcha I still play after several years and funny cause I stop sometimes but at the end I come back and at least with other gatchas never happened the same.

Well, the bad thing about it is that there are TONS of characters. So, chances of getting non-rate-up character that you want is super slim. You have to pray that the character you want will be in rate-up later or hope that it will drop accidentally. How about that portion of despair?
Oh, another one is that even though it's possible to clear stages with basic 3-4* characters, you will have to use strategy and lose and lose and lose again until you either came up with the sufficient plan or understand the gimmic of the stage.
And if you finally got enough of that despair, just go on youtube and watch how some chineese guy beats this stage with 3* units while you bumped your head against it with a bunch of 6*.
