For me it depends:
In horror movies? I feel like it brings the movie down
In a comedy-action movie? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
In a romance story-game? Well... It makes me think "Holy shit, I hate them because they miss a lot of obvious things, but I'm also a dumb idiot when it comes to romance/love, so I can relate..."

For me is like... Naruto turns off the stupid most of the time and is just silly for comedic impact so it's fine.
