Unrelated note but the death of Moore's Law sucks. 5090 out now and compared to 4090 it's 33% faster and 8GB more ram, but uses 33% more power (600W) and costs 33% more too (around $2400, $2800 for the watercooled version preinstalled). I guess from now on if you want 2x performance you will pay 2x as much and eventually need a 240V 50A outlet to run your PC (same as the kitchen stove) with additional air conditioning in summer if you don't want to melt everything in your house and die from hyperthermia.

If you can get the 5090 for $2800 you'd be lucky. Nvidia GPU's higher than 4070Ti Super are hard to come by.

Daz itself is actually the problem, it takes longer to load that it does to render on a 4090 depending on render complexity/number of objects and models in it (and a 14Gb/s NVMe won't help much either). Awhile back the dev of My Dorm posted his work results for a day of posing before going to bed and waking up the next day and while the renders are not quite as good as Ketzal's they still took 2x more time to load than to render (like around 5 mins to load and 2 minutes to render each one). I guess with 5090 it does come with 32GB of ram but even 24GB is plenty most of the time, though Gen 9 stuff at 4k can sometimes still force compromises.

I"m new to Daz and using a 4070Ti Super. I'm averaging about 7-10 minutes on most scene's involving 2 characters in single room environments. Animations are much much longer. Wish I could find a 5090 for actual MSRP. Probably wont come down in price for another year unless Trump hits us with another tariff.

eh I didn't have to try too hard for my 4090, got it for the normal $1750 or so. Went looking on Amazon and found one sold by Amazon in a few minutes. The trick is don't run out and try to get one the day it releases, wait 6 months or so. Granted I had to install my own aftermarket waterblock as those preinstalled are nearly sold out all the time (and I now have a nice 600W heatsink I can think of a few uses for in other projects).

Yeah it's too new, not even a month. Prob end of summer it will be easier to get for maybe $2200 or so for the Founder's. Though for animating it's almost cheaper to just build a 2nd 4070 rig then edit the outputs together (if it's more than just a 2s loop or something) as the 5090 is faster, but also more expensive and uses more power by the same amounts.

Most certainly due to the country/state you are in. Another reason for a good logless VPN. Aside from privacy so you can torrent in peace since it also encrypts traffic so your ISP can't bitch about copyright shit and threaten to ban your account it's easy enough to change one's region as well to where shit like that doesn't happen. This is just tip of the iceburg. Just last year you can't even access Pornhub or Xvideos and watch their free vanilla shit anymore if the IP is originating from Kentucky or Indiana (probably others, I just happen to stumble on those). Why? Because the buncha idiots in suits in their state capitals thought it was a good idea to start requiring ID to access porn sites. Rather than the sites having to keep records, risk database breaches where millions of ID's potentially get stolen and other headaches to keep those state AG's off their backs they simply block IP's from those states, but it's an easy work-around for end-users with a VPN (which anyone that gives a shit about privacy should have anyway): simply change IP to elsewhere. Unless you are playing an online shooter game the extra 100-200ms of lag even from the opposite side of the world will not make a difference. All of that they did was totally pointless and easy enough to ignore, particularly if a site isn't even in the US to where they don't need to give a shit about some obscure US state's porn laws but I guess one useless politician or another got some bragging rights for the next election for it where their potential voters are morons and apparently easy to please (prob mostly old ladies thinking "oh well, useless law, but at least it's the thought that counts, right?"). Another example of lawyers that know relatively nothing about tech making tech laws. As far as SS, fuck those guys, other than a couple of low-tier stragglers I still have to move to Unifans I either unsubbed or downgraded everyone to free tier last month, they are now on my do-not-give-them-profits/shit list the same as Patreon has been the last 7 years. I don't even visit the site nearly as often as I used to (maybe every 2 weeks to check on progress of the free subs instead of daily).
