TBH if they are trying to present an underage character and they don't want to make it an issue, just don't add the age at all. why say this 14-year-old freshman that goes to high school is 18 at all? just don't bring up the age

if you avoid the age completely and focus in the story you don't really need to specify the age of the characters, all you need to specify is the setting and leave it there

it removes from the character by making it dependent on random preferences from the user
the only reason for why adjustable age was ever created is to avoid prosecution from patreon and other means for child .pdf accusations, meaning its inception was poisoned by censorship from day one

i like to adjust it a bit, but only in certain games, when they the basic is lets say 18, and i look at her and "yes of course...." then i adjust it to the age i think she looks like the most

One of the things that I really like in a game is when you can set or adjust the age of the characters.
Unfortunately that seems to be not common, even less so with out some hard coded restrictions.

I looked and I couldn't find a thread that seems to address it.
There for, what are some of your favourite games where ages can be modified.

That seems exceptionally pointless to me. Almost as pointless as a slider for how attractive a character is (with no changes to the renders). Or is there a single game where this actually has an effect other than perhaps the number appearing on some profile page?

I'm with you on that. There's really no point in having an age slider unless that affects the appearance of the character, their behavior, and how they are received by other characters in the game.
This is why I genuinely don't care whether you show the age of a character in a game or not. The number itself doesn't actually matter, the personality, appearance and behaviors do.

Why do lots of people like the ability to set the name of the MC, let alone determining the names of LI's or for that matter, being able to set the relationships between characters? Or why do so many games allow for how you get addressed by certain characters as master, daddy, papi, sir.....?

Because how people are addressed is actually noticeable.

Yeah, I am inclined to agree. Better to write a character the way you want it to be, and if the player isn't into that then that's their choice.
We have patches for a reason.

i think its sort of a CYA thing (again with cencorship). If the dev specifically states the "age of this pixel" is 18 they can get away with making the model look a little younger than that without getting banned. Othewise if no mention on age at all the moral police can still get up in arms.

I don't mind the age adjusting, it can be nice as long as it doesn't pull me out of immersion. However, I very much prefer if i don't have to set an age for every LI. I forget which ones anymore but i prefer when they base all the LI's off of one you can set. I very much don't want to have to stop and enter an age every single time in the midst of playing.

Considering we're playing in an 18+ visual novels that get you sexually immersed, Might as well have a selectable age input.

A compromise would be to just have a "Leave blank if default".
